I woke up from the phone ringing and I feel Selena get up. "Hello?" She asks and yawns. She stays quite for awhile but tells them it is in fact her speaking. I look at her confused so she mouths 'doctors' I nod my head and direct her to sit next to me.

She sits back on the bed and sits beside me. "Mhm," I hear her say many times but then stop. "Are you sure?" she looks at me with a worried expression and I grab her hands to try to comfort her because of the news she had just gotten. "What exactly is lupus?" she asks the doctor and I start to get concerned too.

Selena abruptly gets up and walks out of our room, still on the phone with the doctor. I grab my laptop from the bed side table and search 'lupus'. I start reading about it and see it can't be cured. I next search for 'lupus treatment' and I find out there are treatments that can be done which slightly makes me feel better.

I can't help but to type 'can lupus kill you?' into the search bar. I click enter and see lupus can lead to other infections or diseases that can result in death. I feel my heart drop and I immediately close the tab and I feel myself starting to get worked up. Selena comes back into the room, tears evident on her face. I open my arms and she runs over to me and I cradle her in my arms.

I try not to let her see what is happening effects me, but it was too hard and I could feel my tears roll down my face. We stayed there for hours, neither one of us being able to get up. All I felt was numbness.
