"Oh my god,' Gabriel whispered "The skull is talking to me, its talking to me. To me. It's talking"
"Of course I'm talking! It's not like I'm dead!" the skull said its eye sockets blinked. "What... never mind I am dead. But that's not the point!" The skull said looking at Gabriel it smiled. The skull smiled. That shouldn't even be possible. It's not possible. Not in the real world it's not.
"You shouldn't be talking..." Gabriel muttered his voice scarcely a whisper.
"Yes I should." The skull protested.
"I'm not crazy," Gabriel told himself "I'm not crazy, I'm not crazy!" He said his voice getting louder every time he said it. "I'm not crazy!" He said again. "You're not real, you're just something my mind made up. Your. Not. Real." Gabriel said trying to convince himself more than he was the skull.
I'm not crazy, I'm not crazy I'm not crazy. That skull isn't real. I'm dreaming, I'm dreaming. Gabriel thought his breath coming faster now. Calm down Gabriel, He thought stopping his hands from shaking.
"Yes you are, Kid" The skull said "Your crazy and you know it." A small smirk settled on the skulls face.
"I'm not crazy!" Gabriel screamed at the skull his hands clenched in shaking fist "I'm not insane, I swear!" he yelled covering his ears with his hands and the skull started to laugh. A mocking laugh.
"Not insane huh?" the skull said, taunting in its voice "than why am I talking to you Gabriel? Huh? I'm a skull, I'm dead."
"Thomas stop being nasty to the Gabriel would you? You're making him upset." A new voice said. A feminine voice, Gabriel spun around and knocked into a yellowing skeleton that stood about an inch above him.
"Awe, come on Salon its fun to make him cry." Thomas complained. "Look how easy it is!" Thomas laughed again in Gabriel's direction. His eye sockets almost completely shut. "Oh if I was still alive I would be crying tears of joy this is so fun!"
"Do you want me to smash you again and put you back in the box when Gabriel was so nice to put you back together?" Salon said placing her hands on her boney fabric cloaked hips.
"Well, no," Thomas said looking at the floor
"Good," She said turning away from the skull Salon pushed her attention back to Gabriel who was still sitting on the floor his back resting on the base of a chair, arms wrapped around his legs
which were pulled up to his chest. He looked up at her his vision blurry do to the tears that ran silently down his face.
"I'm not crazy." He whispered to the skeleton standing above him. She crouched down silently her flowered dress covering her knees and she moved to sit beside him.
"No you're not," Salon whispered "Thomas just likes to make fun of everyone, even me and James.
"You-your dead," Gabriel stammered looking at her, she smiled sadly. "You shouldn't even be talking or walking or, or wearing clothing..." He stopped and looked at his hands which rested atop of his folded knees.
"Your right," Salon said resting her pink nailed skeleton hand on his. Gabriel flinched away, moving to put space between them. "We are dead," She looked at him her hands playing with the hem of her fading flower dress. "But we can talk and walk and well we can't eat like you can but we are still people even though we are dead." She looked at him if she had eyes they would be portraying sadness or maybe even tears.
"Salon?" a male voice said. Gabriel looked up at the door way. Another skeleton was standing there. He was wearing grey pants with a white button up shirt and an ash grey vest that had a gold chain hanging from pocket to pocket. It was a pocket watch. He looked down were they were sitting on the floor. "Salon?" The skeleton asked looking at Salon were she sat next to Gabriel on the floor. "This must be Gabriel!" The skeleton said moving to stand in front of salon.
"Gabriel, this is James, my husband," Salon said to Gabriel gesturing to the other skeleton that was still towering about the both of them.
Gabriel looked up but didn't say anything. Looking back down at his hands, which were still shaking slightly, he clenched them into fist.
"Gabriel?" James asked crouching down in front of him but not lowering himself fully to the ground. "I know this must be hard for you to grasp at the moment but try not to be scared." James continued not waiting for an answer he stood up and so did Salon. "Gabriel," James said his name again as if testing it out on his tongue. He doesn't have a tongue. "The only reason that you can see us and talk to use is because we are so post to help you let go. We are here to help you move on." He was smiling sadly Salon was leaning into his side.
"What...." Gabriel muttered "what are you trying to say?" He asked
"James is trying to tell you that you're dead, Gabriel you have been for a while now and you've just been running from it this whole time." Salon said her vice sweet as honey
"H-how?" Gabriel asked
"Oh, if you don't remember then I don't think I should tell you." Salon said leaning agains James
"Trigger, remember him?" Thomas asked from his spot on the china cabinet, Gabriel nodded his head still trying to take in the fact that there were two skeleton and a skull telling him that he was dead. I'm not dead. I'm very much alive. They are the ones that are dead. They are the skeletons. I'm not dead. Maybe I am insane...Gabriel thought.
"Well, he was what we call a Collie, and Collies help to bring the people to their Guides, -Us- so that we can help them move on and let go." Thomas looked at Gabriel as James moved to pick the skull up and bring him closer.
