delilah's pov:
as i stepped out of the old house i've grown up in, i take a deep breath of the crisp, autumn air. after the fresh atmosphere surrounded me, i got chills, shaking slightly. to avoid the obviousness of my coldness, i stare down and look at my shoes; three-year old black converse. soon, my eyes guide to a voice that is shouting my name from a distance.
"ROSE," it screams. i turn around to realize it's my best friend, grayson dolan. in response, i sprint as fast as i can away from him.
"DELILAH ROSE, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?"
"i'm sprinting away from you, what does it look like?" i respond with a chuckle. about a minute of running later, i give up and lay down on the very cold grass near our highschool. eventually, grayson finds me and then lays down.
"where's e" i asked concerned, since they're always together.
"he's 'sick' at home. and why worry about him when the better twins is right here!" gray says, smirking slightly, causing me to blush. he turns to look at me, soon realizing the odd redness on my face.
"hey, what's wrong with your face, it's extremely red" he asks, making me have a mental panic attack.
"oh. um, i'm just very cold, you know? since it's cold out." i speak quickly, so he doesn't notice the lies i'm telling. even though we've been best friends for so long, i've kept this secret from him for eight years. i like him, obviously. and yes, i tell him everything, if he asks about it. however, gray hasn't asked about who i've liked recently, so he hopefully has no idea. of course ethan knows, i tell him everything as well.
"what? why didn't you tell me earlier? here," grayson says, handing me his jacket, "i'm not even that cold, it's fine. don't even fight me about it." and because i'm 5'4", it looks like i'm wearing a triple large hoodie when i put it on. i thank him, admiring the oddly soft, black and red hoodie he has oven me, trying my best not to blush even more.
"hey gray, i need to tell you something, and it's important. so can we skip school today?" i ask as cool as i could, not letting my nervousness show. he nods, as we're on our way to our special spot.
