She held in her hands a black balloon
That had its head in the clouds and stared at the moon
Nothing she did could bring it back down
To make it look at her and stay on the ground
She tied it to a tree, but still it tried to escape
It always needed to run away
She could not bear its sadness and sorrow
She knew she needed to let it go
It flew off into the cloudy night sky
She crouched on the sidewalk and started to cry
The balloon was never seen again
The girl has been sad since who knows when
Her eyes always shine with crystal tears
Even after so many years
After knowing the one she loved did not love her back
Her heart was torn and bent and cracked
Time cannot change what love has caused
Unless new love comes to replace what has been lost
Beware of the fickle, the ones who pretend
Never attempt to become their friend
For their false love will tear you apart
Just like the black balloon broke the girl's heart.
