Chapter 1. (Miah's POV)

Chaoter 1. (Miah's POV)

I woke up with a start. I looked around for the man in my dream, when I was convinced he wasn't there I laid back down. I was covered in a coat of sweat and my sheets were tangled. Once I was sure I couldn't fall back asleep I went downstairs for a cup of tea. My mum was already there making some.

"Miah?" She asked, "Why are you up so late?"

"Sorry mum. I had a nightmare and I couldn't fall back asleep. I just wanted a cup of tea." I answered.

"Is it still the same one? About the man with the yellow eyes following you?" She looked concerned because it was the third time this week. I nodded at her and looked in the fridge for the tea. I got it out and poured it in a cup, then put it in the microwave and set the time for one minute.

"Though I'm not sure it's a man, more like a teenage boy." I told her. She looked at me like I'd gone mad. The ding of the microwave made both of us jump. I grabbed my tea and put a little packet of sugar in the cup. As I started heading towards my room, my mum stopped me. She kissed me on the forehead.

"I love you, Miah." She told me. It wad the first time she had said that since dad left. I smiled at the sound of it. "I love you too, mum." I gave her hand a small squeeze and went to my room. My phone was buzzing. By the time I made it over to it, the buzzing stopped. I clicked the power button to find out that I had 17 missed calls from an unknown number. I clicked ignore and went and sat on my bed. It was 5:54 a.m. I grabbed my tea and sipped on it until it was gone. My little brother, Johnatthan, walks in with his teddy bear. He looked very sleepy. He was very sleepy. He was wiping his eyes saying, "Can I sleep with you?"

I sigh and pick him up. I cradled him in my arms and he curled into a ball with the teddy bear in his arms. He fell sleep quickly, as for me sleep was far off, but eventually I felt my eyelids become heavy and sleep swept me away softly as if I were on a cloud.
