Half way up the ferris wheel, his feet were on the seat next to me and mine were next to him.

"So you think you're so sly," I said nudging him with my foot.

"What?" he smiled that crooked smile, "I can't send myself a message through your phone?"

"No you cannot, stranger...what if you're a some creeper?"

"Guess you'll have to find out?" He said taking his feet off my chair, crossing his arms on his knees, leaning in towards me. I just leaned back further and looked out at the water. We were at the top.

I took out my phone to text Camille, "Don't have too much fun dude" I texted. I took a pic of the view and sent it to her. The whole time I felt a pair green eyes on me. I turning the camera towards him, "Smile, you douche."

He leaned back with his arms resting on our cart. Those green eyes crossed and he stuck his pink tongue out.

We got off and found Camille and Luke waiting for us. I guess that took longer than I thought.

Luke stood up from the bench, "We decided for you guys that we are going bike riding. We even rented the bikes already c'mon," he said as he waved us over.

The last time I rode a bike was probably 6 grade. I hope that saying that you never forget is right, or else I'm screwed.

We got the bikes and we took off one by one back to the pier. Camille went first, I went second, then Sam rode and last was Luke.

We got to the top of the hill to Santa Monica Pier and Camille came to a stop.

"I'm not riding down that," turning her bike around she started walking it down the pathway.

"Hold on," Luke said. He already acted like her boyfriend.

I looked down and it was pretty steep. All I wanted though was to feel nothing again, like the night of the accident. I was in danger then...was that the cause of it?

I slowly released my breaks and started down the hill. I started speeding and going faster and it felt like I was going one hundred miles per hour. The air pushed my long brown hair back and though the air was there, it wasn't.

I slowed to a stop and then rode off to the side to find Sam right behind me.

"Nothing stops you, huh?" he said continuing to ride right past me.

I hopped back on, accepting the challenge.

It took us all the way to Venice Beach. Along the path, we were racing like no body's business. Sure, we got a few screams from the stroller people but that didn't stop us.

Sam won.

I don't like losing.

I locked my bike and kept walking yet he eventually caught up to me.

"Cmon Madeline, don't be a sore loser," Sam taunted.

"Don't call me that." I said warning him, slowing down to look at the different shops. I wandered into a piercing and tattoo shop and he followed.

"What are you doing?" green eyes quickly followed behind me.

I didn't respond. My eyes never stop wandering from different things in the shop. I saw what I wanted. I walked up to the guy with tattoos all over him and asked, "If I wanted a few piercings, when could you take me?"

"Now, if you'd like," he said showing me the door.

"Maddi, what are you doing?" green eyes questioned seeming concerned.

"Your boyfriend can come too," the man said and Sam immediately followed.

"He's not my boyfriend."

I showed the guy where I wanted the piercings and he sat me down. Sam was right in front of me, his hands on the chair armrests on either side of me.

"Ready?" the guy said with the gun in his hand.

One went through. I winced and immediately grabbed Sam's hand out of instinct. "Breathe," Sam said looking straight at me but I couldn't look at him, I just kept looking down.

I could feel Sam's thumb rubbing my hand and the next one went through. I squeezed his hand once again waiting for the next one.

Once the guy finished I let go of Sam's hand and grabbed the mirror. I smiled at the things my mom would say, but they were only my ears. She only let me get the single piercings I got when I was a few months old. I just got double piercings, and a few on top. "Thank you!," I said hopping off the chair a little too quick, getting a little dizzy.

I went to the front to pay and we left. "Nothing really does stop you, huh?" green eyes said staring at me through the same ray bands, his hands in his pockets.

I don't know what happened, but I everything became blurry; his face, the pavement, the sky. I walked over to a bench and sat down while Sam ran over to sit down next to me, my head going right into his arms then into his lap.

"Maddi...Maddi..."

I opened my eyes again and felt his fingers pulling my hair back. I immediately sat up and stood up again

"Careful..." he warned as if it were timed and I tripped over myself.

"Hop on," he lent me his arm and I stepped on the bench, too dizzy to jump, and climbed on his back.

My arms rested around his neck and my head on his shoulder and whispered into his neck, "I'm sorry.."

I felt him chuckle under his breathe, "Maddi, don't be. It was probably a mix of the concussion I gave you, the pain from the piercings, and the heat."

I whispered again, "Sorry I'm heavy."

"You're light as a feather."

"You must only lifted heavy feathers then..."

We found a shady spot and some water and we just relaxed for a few.

"While we're sat here," he continued, "lets continue our questions...what do you like to do in your spare time?"

I sat there thinking, what do I do? "I guess I read a lot."

"What's your favorite book then?"

"The Acrimony of Aniticaption"

"Never heard of it." Didn't seen like he'd be a fellow book reader... I would offer it but I don't trust him yet with something like that. Plus it's so worn out with the corner of the pages folded and things highlighted and underlined.

We got back on our bikes after I begged and told him I could ride and he warned me to be careful.

"Your right," he said looking forward with that half smile. The sun was at its peak and we both had our sunglasses on again.

"I know I am...about what exactly though?" I answered, making sure to keep up with him. His smile widened.

"In my spare time I sing, and I also play guitar," big surprise, "and I do like Ed Sheeran."

"Ed Sheeran...?" I repeated.

"Yea.." he said a bit confused.

"I guess we have something in common for once." I said blatantly kept staring forward at the path speeding past him, as he continued to smile at the same pace.
