Chapter 5: Too Many Smirks
I slide out of bed and make my way to the bathroom. It has a huge tiled shower and a bunch of soaps. I start the shower so the water has time to get hot and look through some of the drawers.
I pull open one of the drawers and I find some razors, how stupid can they get? They think that I'm just going to pass up this opportunity to have a weapon on me?
I grab one to use in the shower, while I pull apart another one. I place the razor under a few towels for now, until I need it. I find some clean clothes hanging in the corner of the bathroom and grab them.
I do a quick glance around the room and make sure there are no cameras before I begin to strip down. As I step into the shower, I'm consumed by thoughts.
The water burns my skin, but it's enough to distract me from remembering what happened to my father. I was too weak to kill Dante, even after watching him murder my father. After being in the mafia my whole life, you would think that I would be stronger.
I wash my body with a shampoo that smells like vanilla and coconuts before shaving my legs and armpits. Once I'm rinsed off, I step out of the shower and wrap a clean towel around my body.
I make my way over to the mirror and look at my reflection. My face is tinted red from the hot shower and my eyes look blood shot. I notice a few bruises around my eyes and cheeks and look at the large cut that I failed to notice earlier. It looks as if someone stitched it up already, but I'm surprised it doesn't hurt as much. I open a new toothbrush and toothpaste and begin to brush my teeth.
I hear someone outside of the door and quickly grab one of the razors from under the towels and hide it in my palm. The bathroom door opens without a knock and I'm met with Leone.
His eyes drift down to the towel wrapped around my body and slowly makes his way back up to my face, "You are late for breakfast." His deep voice echoes through the large bathroom.
I give him a dirty look, "Did you ever hear of knocking?" I retort.
He smirks as he takes a step towards me, "This is my house, ."
He does have a point there, "Don't get any closer to me, Leone." I grip my hand tighter around the razor, but relax it when I feel it scrape my skin.
Leone takes another step forward, practically hovering over me. I try to remember what I should do in this situation, but it's hard to think straight when he's so close.
I remember what happened to my father and see Leone's arm twitch upwards. Out of pure reflex the razor in my hand grazes his cheek and he stumbles backwards. My eyes widen as I take in his surprised look with blood dripping down his cheek. I should probably run.
Before I have the chance, he slams me against the wall behind me, making the razor fall from my grip.
Instead of looking pissed off, like I thought he would, there's a small smirk hinted on his lips, "Ragazzaccia." He grabs my arms and places them above my head, holding them with only one of his hands. I feel my towel become looser, but it doesn't seem to budge. His minty breath is hot against my face as he trails his hand down my cut cheek, "It looks like we're going to have matching scars." I watch as the crimson red blood drips down his chin and drips onto the floor between us.
I try to pull myself out of his grip, but it only causes him to press his body closer to mine, making me feel weaker under his touch. I watch his eyes flicker to my lips and mine go to his. His tongue wets his smooth lips as he leans closer to me.
