narrator

jaerin and daniel sat across from each as she set the table. for lunch, jaerin made a simple bibimbap with the food her mother had brought from home.

daniel stared at the big bowl with his spoon in his mouth, mesmerized as jaerin mixed the vegetables and sauces into the bowl of rice.

before she could finish mixing everything in, daniel already dug his spoon into the bowl.

"wah~ this is really good~"

jaerin clicked her tongue as she glared at the boy munching on her food.

"yah! i'm not even done yet. be patient, will you? you're lucky i even let you into my house"

"sorry~" daniel smiled cheesily making his eyes disappear.

jaerin pulled the plastic glove off her hand flipping it inside out and disposing it into the trash. she opened the drawer to grab a spoon and made her way to her seat.

"okay! let's dig it!"

daniel clapped eagerly, leaving his spoon in his mouth before taking it out

"thank for the meal~"

jaerin pulled one knee to her chest as her other leg dangled above the floor under the table. they ate happily and talked about anything they came to their minds.

"ouu i did a good job" jaerin pat herself on her back.

"im impressed. this is really good"

"thank you" jaerin tried her best to say in english. daniel chuckled at her cute accent.

"oh which reminds me. are you from america? your name is da-ni-el"

"no, i was born in busan but i legally changed my name to daniel because my original name was hard to pronounce. even my mom couldn't say my name right."

jaerin made the "o" shape with her mouth and she stuck another spoonful of food into her mouth. but she spoke again, with her mouth full,

"sho jen wuch yur orichina name"

"what?" daniel looked at her confused

she tried swallowing her food to repeat the question but choked on it making a piece of rice landing on daniel's cheek. shit.

he didn't seem to notice. daniel looked shocked and went to go grab a glass of water to hand to jaerin

"woah, woah are you okay?" daniel chuckled at her.

jaerin gulped down the water and set it on the table, then nodded.

"tsk tsk tsk. you shouldn't eat so much at a time and try to talk" he shook his head and sat back down.

"thanks"

jaerin had just embarrassed in front of him again. she looked up to see the grain of rice still hugging his cheek. she chuckled a bit before daniel looked up in confusion.

"why are you laughing?"

jaerin suddenly burst out laughing like a psycho.

"HAHAHAHAHA I CANT" jaerin felt like she was about to pass out from the lack of oxygen

"you cant what?" daniel was completely oblivious to what was going on.

jaerin finally cooled down, wiping the tears that formed in the corner of her eyes.

"you have rice on your face. i spat on you earlier"

"why were you laughing so much? it wasn't even that funny" daniel wiped the grain of rice off his cheek. he flicked the rice in her direction and she quickly tried to dodge it.

"bad humor runs in the family" jaerin smiled cheekily.
