It had been a more than a week and Indy hadn’t come to meet me at the jetty. I had gone every single night and she wasn’t there. I was so worried; what If something had happened to her. I didn’t know what to do.

It was Saturday morning and I had just eaten breakfast. I logged on to my laptop and went on to the website where you find your family relatives. You have to make an account, it cost money but I didn’t think that was a problem. I got Indy's information out of my bag and started reading it. It said ‘Name: Indio Timmons. Mother: Sophie Timmons.’ I could see it was not telling me about her Dad but a mother was a start. I searched her mother’s name into google. It came up with an old newspaper file. The headline read ‘killed in drink driving’ I began to read the first column. ‘Twenty-five year old Sophie Timmons was drunk and tried to drive when she could hardly walk. She suffered major injuries including a cracked skull.’ I hated what I was reading but I had to keep going. ‘She later on sadly died of internal bleeding.’ I was thinking how I could be sure this was her mother, and then I saw a photo. It looked so similar to Indy she had blonde hair and the same eyes as Indy. Her face shape was similar too, I was convinced. So Indy's mum really did die, how was I going to tell her? I printed the newspaper article and put it in my draw. Later that day I made dinner. I didn’t make any for Indy today because chances are she won’t be there when I go to meet her later. I ate dinner, dad sat down next to me.

“Hello honey what have you been up to today?” he asked. I couldn’t tell him what I was actually doing.

“I have been doing homework.” I told him. He seemed to be looking at me like I had done something.

“What homework? Did you have a lot?” he questioned.

“History, and no not really, why?” I replied.

“Are you okay?” he asked, still looking at me strangely.

“Yes I'm fine.” I turned around tripping over the chair as my hair was in my face.

“I was just wondering.” He chuckled. I was not too sure what was so funny but I didn’t know a lot of things.

“So it’s coming up to Christmas what do you want?” he asked finally, I was waiting for him to ask this. It was already the 10th of December.

“Oh, I made a list. I will email it to you. Do you want it to your work email or home?” I asked just making sure.

“Work please, it’s easier.” I answered, saying the opposite to what I would have done.

“Ok I will do that tomorrow, but I am going to bed now, night.” I gave my father a cuddle and plodded up the stairs to bed.

I went to bed feeling really sad for Indy even though she doesn’t know that her mum is dead she still was going to find out, and I was really hoping she would be alive.

My alarm clock went off at 1am and I climbed out of bed to go to the jetty again. I really wasn’t expecting Indy to be there. I lazily walked down to the jetty. The air was cold and the ground wet. I eventually sat on the edge. I stayed there for hours just like I had all week. I watched the water flow through the jetty. I was bored and desperately wanted her to turn round the corner. I was just about to leave when I turned around to see a figure staring at me. It was my maths teacher again. It was 6am so she was probably walking to school.

“Lily?” she called.

“Yes miss.” I replied.

“Are you ok? What are you doing out at this time?” she asked

“I could ask you the same question miss.” I told her.

“I am walking to school.” She told me.

“I am just taking a walk…” I lied, I didn’t think she was going to fall for that. I mean what teenager gets up at six to go for a walk?

“Well you are actually sitting down, it’s not much of a walk.” She replied.

“Fine, I am meeting a friend.” I explained.

“Well where are they then?” she pointed out, kind of getting on my nerves by now.

“They didn’t turn up.” I frowned.

“Was it a boy by any chance?” she smiled.

“No. Miss it’s my friend Indy.” I corrected. Why would it by a boy?

“Yes, sorry, I am probably not meant to ask that question.” She said. I was confused why she was talking to me in the first place. I was pretty sure she thought I was stupid, well at least she talked to me that way, but she is my maths teacher so that says a lot. Miss turned around and carried on her journey to school. As for me, I didn’t really know what to do. I was starting to think she didn’t want to see me. But that was ridiculous since I had helped her, done nothing wrong. What would we do if the boys had found out about our night meeting and stopped her from going out? How would we meet? I wondered back to my house and gently entered it. I wasn’t really tired so I didn’t go back to bed. Instead I logged on to my laptop and emailed dad my Christmas list. I wanted to get Indy something for Christmas as I was going to see her again, even if it didn’t seem like it. It didn’t take long for me to think of something to get for her. I wanted to buy it online as it was easier I didn’t want to carry it home from town. I found a nice website which wasn’t too expensive but it had the perfect present for Indy, an art easel. It wasn’t too big but not to small either. She would love it! I placed my order which would come in a week. I heard dads alarm go off, so I quietly closed the lid of my laptop and slipped into bed. Hopefully he wouldn’t come in.
