"We need to go upstairs," I told Lyla

"WHy what's wrong?" She replied

"I saw something go upstairs to where Jay is," I said, " I hope it's not the midnight man."

"Or you can stay down her with poor wittle ol' me." She said to me.

"Sorry but Jay and I have been tight since Pre-K," I told her, " Now you can come with me but, I am going to go where ever that thing is."

"Then let's go." She replied. We tiptoed up the steps then when we got to the top floor I heard a faint bumping and stomping. So I quickly went up to the next floor. WIth each case of stairs, we ascended the noise got louder and louder. Finally, we reached the point where we were right under the noise. Then I jumped up and grabbed the latch to the attic. I lowered it and at the moment I wish I had moved as soon as I had seen the thing. It went from freezing cold to steaming hot in 2.5 seconds. I walked over to a thrown over chair. There was a corpse just lying there. It looked fresh. I kicked it, nothing happened. So I turned it over and the only thing I noticed was the face it was Jay.

"Oh my goodness!" I said

"What, what?!?!" Lyla said.

"He got caught," I said. I was about to start crying. Lyla came up next to me. I sat down. She sat down on my lap.

"Not right now," I said as I attempted to get up but somehow it was like she was Hulk. She slammed me right back down like I was nothing.

"Look I know you are upset. Don't forget we were friends since the fourth grade," she said "Now we are in tenth grade. We came a pretty long way from where we started. I've been through a lot with you two rascals. I am just as sad as you come on cheer up." and with that, she leaned back into my chest.

"Besides we haven't had time to spend alone since we started dating even that was only yesterday," she concluded. We just sat there in darkness. Tears were coming out of my eyes slowly still sad about Jay. I wrapped my arms around Lyla's waist. I grabbed my candle and put it on the desk next to us. I looked into the camera's clock. It was 1:45. Quarter to 2. Two hours and 33 minutes till this dumb behind game were over.

"I am going to start to walk around a little," I said to Lyla

"Okay, I'll come with you." She replied

"No, I'm good. Thank you." I said to her. I went down the steps to the kitchen with my candle but I forgot my salt shaker. I went and grabbed me some cookies. I started to walk up the steps when I felt a cold breeze. So I picked up my pace. Then I heard a whisper. I could almost make out the words but it was still a little unclear. Then I started to break up the steps until I couldn't feel the air or hear the voice I got to the attic I slammed the door.

"We need to get downstairs NOW!" I told Lyla. I looked at the clock on the cameras on last time, it was 2:00
