TFIL Adoption?!

A/N - I no longer have writer's block so there's gonna be frequent up dates! At least for now... Enjoy the next chapter, I have also decided to wait until after Iyla meets everyone to *unlock* her tragic af backstory. Without further ado... another chapter!

Aaron gets home before anyone else, which is good because he is a gentle giant who doesn’t scream curse words at the top of his lungs when he enters the mansion (*cough* Colby/Brennen/Scott *cough*). Aaron has Buddy under an arm while holding a few shopping bags with the other. He looks at Corey with confusion when the other walks into the entryway, clearly having gotten the text. Corey only smirks and tilts his head towards the TV area. Aaron follows and stares in wide eyed confusion at Elton who has a sleeping little girl curled in his lap and Circa on his other side. Elton is playing a video game but pauses when he sees another person other than Corey. The bearded man nods his head to the closest beanbag for Aaron to sit on so he can explain quietly.

“This is Iyla. Long story short, she’s an orphan and is going to be staying with us from now on. I didn’t tell anyone because this literally happened today with no planning.” Aaron only blinks and slowly nods his head.

“Long story?”

“I was downtown when she crashed into me. She was terrified and running from someone, turns out it was from her abusive alcoholic foster father. I kept her behind me and the guy backed off, I took her home after promising to never let her near those horrible people again. She and Circa hit it off, she’s met Corey but still a bit wary. She fell asleep soon after.”

“Probably from the stress…”

“That’s what we were thinking. It’s been about an hour now, so she should be waking up pretty soon.”

“How old is she? Have you talked to any officials yet?”

“Two or three is what I’m thinking. I haven’t talked to anyone yet, but I was planning to either a bit later today or definitely tomorrow.”

“Well, I guess we better get the guest set up for her, I have a feeling she’ll be staying with us from now on if you have anything to say about it.” Aaron chuckles and carries Buddy upstairs, probably to get started on the guest room.

“I better help him, this’ll be good for the house.” Corey smirks before he disappears upstairs as well.

Elton was right when he said it wouldn’t be long before the toddler woke up. Barely ten minutes later she is waking up with a scrunch of her cute little face. She sits up while yawning and fisting an eye, the other is fisted in elton’s shirt. The man pauses his game once again and smiles at her.

“Hey sleeping beauty.” She blinks in confusion for a moment before she sits up straighter.

“No’ a dream?” He chuckles.

“Nope, this is real and you will be staying here for as long as possible, if that’s what you want.”

“Yea.”

“Alright, and hey, one more roommate came home when you were sleeping. He is very tall but he is super nice. Do you wanna meet him?”

Iyla looks at him skeptically.

“I’ll carry you and you can just say hi.” He tries to compromise, she takes it; giving him a small hesitant nod.

Elton smiles and stands, he crouches down to pick her up, she doesn’t put up any fight and simply wraps a little arm around his neck while he positions her on his hip. Circa follows the two up the stairs and into the guest room. The bearded man babbling away about the house and the roommates. The door to the guest room is only partially open, cracked really. Elton has Iyla knock on the door, wanting her to do something. Corey’s voice filters through.

“Enter!”

Elton nudges the door open a bit more with the hip that has Iyla on it. He smiles at her then to the two adults in the room. Corey smiles like a little kid when Circa jumps on the bed to get to his face and when he sees that their newest addition is awake. Aaron is sitting on the floor with Buddy in his lap, he smiles up at the two and his heart melts when inquisitive green eyes shift to him. Iyla waves shyly at him in greeting before hiding her face in the crook of Elton’s neck. Elton chuckles at her and nudges her to look at the new man.

“Iyla, this is Aaron. He’s super nice,” “Yeah, he totally is I-I (eye-eye)!” - Corey interrupts with a bright smile and head nod. “Yeah, I won’t hurt ya.” Aaron give one of the smiles that makes him resemble a giant puppy.

Elton puts the toddler on her feet and gently moves her toward Aaron and Buddy. She is hesitant and nervous but she keeps looking at Buddy with hope. Aaron sees this and smiles.

“This is Buddy, he’s still a puppy. He’s seven months old and seems like he wants to meet you. How old are you?”

“Four…”

“That’s pretty old, are you a big kid?”

She giggles and moves forward with a bit more confidence and after another moment or so she is sitting in front of the gentle giant with a bouncing Buddy attacking her face with kisses. He looks to Corey and Elton, both of whom have their phones out taking pictures or recording the adorableness. Twenty minutes later has the front door opening once again and Devyn walking in. Corey meets her at the landing in the middle of the staircase, he tells her that she has to be quiet when she meets the newest addition. The poor girl thinks that there's a baby animal, she gets the surprise of her life to say the least when she opens the door to the guest room to see a small child sitting in Elton’s lap with Buddy in her own. Aaron is laughing while lying on the floor, Circa attacking him.

“Hey guys, look who’s home,” Corey says, gently bringing attention to his girlfriend. The three in the room and the two dogs look to the doorway, the two dogs running to her in excitement. Devyn smiles and picks up Buddy for kisses before hugging Circa.

“Hey. My name is Devyn, It’s nice to meet you.” Devyn smiles at the little girl in Elton’s lap.

“Hi.”

“Devyn this is I-I -” “Iyla.” Elton corrects with a roll of his eyes and a chuckle.

“Iyla huh? That’s a really pretty name.” Devyn says with a kind smile and moving to sit on the floor with the four year old.

Iyla warms up to Devyn faster than anyone else but still a bit wary overall. Buddy and Circa help tremendously though, as she has learned dogs are excellent judges of character, besides the fact that most abusive foster/group homes don't even have animals. She is actually considering the idea of living here and liking it because there is no smell of drugs, smoke, or alcohol. The house is clean with the occasional mess but it's overall kept, there are no signs of obvious problems. Corey and Devin are obviously in love (Corey also wasn't angry when he met her, only surprised but he offered her TV and some of his snack). Aaron had a puppy in his lap and when he smiles he himself resembles a giant puppy, he isn't very loud and has good vibes. Elton is amazing; he had saved her, brought her home, let her sleep on him without getting mad, and he seems like an overall amazing person. She is told there's two roommates left and while that scares her, they show promise if they are anything like the people she's meet. She hopes for the best...

A/N - over 1000 words! Longest chapter yet as well as getting the ball rolling! And next chapter she's probably going to meet Sam and Colby, and possibly be *unlocking* her tragic backstory... Next chapter I might also be describing the family dynamics a bit, not too sure though. Also, it's almost 3 in the fucking morning - I need sleep
