Taehyung snuck out again.
He told his parents he was playing with the other kids in the pack. But that was a lie.
He would play with them, if they'd let him. But not only were most of the children older, they were also all betas and alpha bloods. They didn't want to play with a "stupid omega" as they called him. Of course they only called him that when none of the adults were listening. Otherwise they would get scolded again for picking on the "precious omega boy".
It was true that Taehyung was not as fast or as strong as the other kids, and he was a bit clumsy too. But the real reason why no one seemed to like him was that he was treated differently. All the adults talked to and treated Taehyung like he was something special and fragile, like he was of more worth than the other kids.
Taehyung didn't understand how being an omega made him any different from any other wolves. It wasn't fair - neither for Taehyung nor for any other child in Krystal Pack.So that was why he regularly snuck into the forest to meet his best and only friend.
Their meetings had to stay a secret since his friend was from the neighboring pack. And the two packs had some kind of feud going on, another thing Taehyung just couldn't understand. He guessed he was just too young for complicated issues like these. At the age of 9 you have other things to worry about than hostility between packs, right?
And the only thing on Taehyung's mind right now was the cute little boy he was so proud to call his playmate. It wasn't always given that both of them managed to escape their respective pack grounds, so every time Taehyung ran through the forest towards their meeting place he was accompanied by a nervous feeling in his stomach.

"Please be there, please be there, please be there," the little boy chanted breathlessly while pushing past bushes and almost falling over roots that stuck out the ground here and there. The wind tousled his soft brown hair and some green leaves got tangled in them and his chestnut eyes sparkled with excitement.
When Taehyung finally reached the spot, a wide smile placed itself on his face.Jeon Jungkook was waiting in the middle of a flower field that was surrounded by trees. The 7 year old omega had a white shirt on that was two sizes too big for his small frame and had dirt all over it. His shorts were in no better condition, but the cute face showed a shy smile that could make one wanna hug this adorable being despite all the dirt.
"Jungkookie~!" Taehyung cheered and ran over to the younger, tackling him to the ground.
"Ugh, nice to see you, too," Jungkook coughed, being weighed down by a two years older kid.
It was funny how two years can make such a difference. When adults are two years apart you could probably not even tell who was older. But with kids it could mean that one is almost a head taller than the other and two grades above in school, which was the case with Taehyung and Jungkook.
But that didn't bother the two. They were just happy they had each other. Since Jungkook was an omega, too, he had similar difficulties to find friends in his pack.Being done with crushing the small boy under him, Taehyung stood up from the flowery ground and helped Jungkook back on his feet.
"What do we do today?"
Jungkook looked up, his dark eyes filled with excitement and he jumped up and down all the while still holding Taehyung's hand. "I've seen a persimmon tree on my way here, let's go pick some!"

"Stop moving so much! I can't reach them," Jungkook complained as he tried to grab one of the (very few) ripe persimmons that hung from the tree.
"You are heavy, I can't help it."
Taehyung had the smaller on his shoulders and tried to balance the weight of them both on his two little feet.Suddenly all the weight was gone. Puzzled, Taehyung looked up and saw Jungkook dangling from one of the lower branches. He heard a grunt as the kid managed to pull himself on top of the branch that was apparently strong enough to carry the weight Taehyung complained about seconds ago.
Jungkook leaned to the side where the most beautiful and most orange persimmons hung that the two kids had ever seen in their short lives (and they would always be the most beautiful, since the boys had gone through an actual effort to get them).
"Be careful, kookie."
"Don't worry Taetae. Almost there."The child's hands curled around the fruit and slightly pulled. The fruit wouldn't budge. He pulled again, this time with more force but still nothing. If he pulled any harder he would squish the fruit. Jungkook grew impatient and now tried with both hands to snap the whole twig (which left him with no hands to hold on to the branch). With all the strength he had he pulled on the twig and it was so flexible that he had to pull it to his chest -and it finally snapped. It threw little Jungkookie off balance and he was only able to yelp before he fell off the tree.
"Jungkook!" Without much thinking Taehyung tried to catch his friend but it only resulted in both boys falling hard to the ground.
"Ouch."
They lay there breathing for a moment.
"You hurt?" Taehyung asked. They both sat up. Jungkook shook his head, facing the ground as if in shame. But then he looked up through his lashes and Taehyung could see the wide grin plastered on the cute face. Jungkook held the twig (which had exactly three ripe persimmons and a bunch of unripe ones on it) between them.
Taehyung started to giggle and soon they were full on laughing at each otherTheir days together were always like this. Have (silly) ideas, then get a bruise or two but most of all having fun.
The persimmons were sweet and juicy, they were the best and from this day on their favorite fruit.
