Taehyung walked home, a happy skip in his steps.
Arriving in the pack house, he went to the area of the huge mansion that belonged to his family. Every family that lived in the pack house got a hallway to themselves. It was like having an apartment since it had its own bed- and bathrooms and even a small kitchen.
Taehyung opened the door that separated their "apartment" from the rest of the mansion, his nose was welcomed with the delicious smell of his mother's cooking. And Taehyung felt hungry after a long day of playing in the woods.
When he closed the door behind him and got rid of his muddy shoes, his mother called him from the kitchen."Hey mom." He smiled and skipped over to her, grinning widely and giving her a hug around the waist. The hug was returned with one arm since her other hand still held the spatula.
Taehyung looked a lot like his mother. In fact, if she cut her hair short she would look like an older version of him only with thinner eyebrows and smaller nose."Did you have fun?"
Taehyung nodded his head eagerly, totally failing to notice the serious tone in his mother's voice.
"We picked persimmons! They were so good, mom."
"With who did you pick persimmons and where?" she asked and looked her son right in the eyes.
"Uh..."
Who did he say he was playing with again? Was it Simba or maybe Kris? He couldn't remember, his answer took too long. His mother narrowed her eyes."Were you playing with that boy from Amber Pack, again?"
Taehyung stiffened noticeably. His body language practically screamed the truth. How did she find out?
As if reading his mind she answered his question: "I was talking to Kris' mother today. I asked her what you two were doing. And she told me that Kris was grounded for breaking her favorite vase so he was not allowed to have friends over... in fact she didn't even know you two were friends. And then ..," she took a deep breath to calm herself, "... Luna Krystal asked me why she saw you running into the forest today and yesterday and for the bigger part of last week."By now Taehyung's face was drained off all color.
"Do you know how stupid I felt for having no idea where my son is and what he's doing?" Her voice wavered.
"Taehyung, I told you not to play alone in the forest," his mother told him, worry and concern were written all over her face. She had spent the last hour picturing all the awful things that could've happened to her only child.
I'm not alone, Jungkookie is there with me, Taehyung thought weakly."And I told you to stay away from that kid from the other pack. They're dangerous."
But kookie is not dangerous, Taehyung objected in his mind. Jungkook was like the least hostile person he ever met. Taehyung's heart hurt that his mother disapproved of his friend. His only friend. But her following words had him burst into tears.
"I forbid that you ever meet him again. And you are grounded."*
Taehyung stayed in his room after this. Even though his tummy was growling from hunger he knew he wasn't able to swallow one bite of food. His pillow was soaked with his tears that had now stopped flowing because he was too tired to cry any more.
His mother had tried to get him to eat by coming into his room and softly saying lunch was ready. Taehyung had turned around in his bed so he faced the wall. His mother saw his shoulders shaking from silent sobs and it broke her heart.
When her husband came home from work she seeked comfort from him. Taehyung could hear bits of what they said but most of their words got swallowed by the walls.
What he did catch sounded like his mother feeling guilty ("Do you think I was too harsh on him. I've never seen him like this") and his father trying to soothe her ("You did what's best for him. He'll understand ... eventually").
After a few minutes of silence the door to Taehyung's room opened again and his father stepped in, a plate loaded with food in one hand.
