Chapter 4: Better Off Alone
Isaac woke up and took care of his hygiene. He set off to Maxine's room waking up the blonde girl in the small princess bed.
"Max. Max wake up," He shook the little girl's shoulder lightly.
She grumbled, "No." She snuggled deeper into her princess bed sheets.
"You don't want to go to school," Issac asked moving the covers from her face.
"No," she repeated yawning.
"Why not?" She got out from underneath the covers though they were still on her shoulders.
"I wanna go with you," Maxine rubbed her eyes with her small fists.
"Tell you what Jackson is having a party on Friday. The kids from work are going to be there and we can go to that."
She smiled, "Do I have to go to school?"
I shook my head, "If you're good for the rest of the week. I'll let you come to work with me on Friday too."
~~~
Isaac walked into the office my shoulder bag on my shoulder. I walked in the office to be greeted by Danny. "Hey, Danny." He looked up and smiled,
"Hey. Scott's looking for you has your notebook."
I nodded my head and smiled, "Thanks," he started to walk away, "Where are you going?"
"I'm doing a coffee run. You want anything?"
I shook my head, "No. It's fine."
He nodded and walked off stepping on the elevator. I turned around walking to my office when I was knocked on the ground, a body landing on top of me. "I'm sorry," the person apologized. I opened my eyes and saw Scott, he held his hand out for me. I took it with hesitation.
"We need to stop meeting like this." He flashed me a charming smile. And no, it did not make me want to smile. Okay maybe it did a little.
"Yeah," I laughed nervously looking at the back of my office. I got an office instead of just a desk because Jackson is nice and knows how I'm scared of people.
"Uhh--here's your notebook." He handed me the notebook. I took it.
"Thanks." I jumped back a little when our hands touched.
He looked confused, "So you work with Jackson Whittemore?"
I nodded, please go.... "Yeah, he's a friend of mi--"
"Scott!" Someone yelled across the office. We looked and seen Jackson walking towards us in a black suit, black dress shoes, and a red tie. That was surprisingly neat, Danny must have tied it for him.
"I see you met Isaac--Scott. He's one of my best workers, friends. I think you guys should both come to the party at the park on Friday. And tell, Stiles and Derek they can bring their kids." Scott smiled, but I gulped. "You're going to the party right, Isaac?"
I forced a smile, "Of course."
"So Scott. It's settled, you and Isaac are going to the party on a date." Before we could protest Jackson was running back to his office. My gosh, he was immature sometimes. But Scott followed, screaming cuss words for him to stop. I shrugged walking into my office.
