1 New Start

Lachlan's POV

I sat back in my chair, having just finished the match with a win somehow and relaxing. I checked my phone and noticed it was already 8 in the morning.

Lachlan: "Fuck Ali I gotta go man."

Ali: "Why is it late there?"

Lachlan: "It's 8 am. I haven't slept all night."

Ali: "Yeah no you should probably get some sleep. I'll talk to you later OK?"

Lachlan: "Later man."

As I quickly picked myself up after closing Discord. I walked downstairs to hear my mother making breakfast which wasn't that strange. But the strange part was dad was helping.

Lachlan: "OK who died?"

Mum: "What?"

Lachlan: "Dads helping to cook. What's the occasion?"

I heard my brother Mitch come take a seat beside me hesitantly.

Mitch: "What's going on?"

Lachlan: "So I'm not just really paranoid."

Mum: "Why would you be paranoid? Schools finished."

Dad: "For now."

True, growing up here was hard at the best of times. High school was hell with the bullying and shit but I somehow got through it... Wait did he just say for now?

Lachlan: "For now?"

I watched my parents eye each other before my mum handed me a letter with my name on it.

Lachlan: "You opened my mail? Guys come on. Who knows what could have been in there."

Mitch: "Dildo."

Lachlan: "That was a joke present and you know it."

I pulled the letter out of the already opened letter, thanks guys, no privacy what so ever. And read it to myself...

Lachlan: "Uh? What?"

Dad: "We were just as shocked when your mother brought it in for me to read. It makes sense now why you never looked to study, you did want to. Just not close by, I don't blame you to be honest. I wouldn't want to go to another school if those bullies were there either."

Mum: "I'm disappointed you never told us you were looking."

Lachlan: "I didn't know I was either."

I looked up and saw them beaming with joy, this is the happiest they have been in a while. They haven't smiled this much since I left school.

Dad: "I'm really proud of you."

Jacqui: "Hey mum I have to run sorry. What's everyone smiling for? Did Lachlan finally come out of the closet?"

Lachlan: "Fuck off."

Dad: "No he got accepted into university. I'm a little worried that if never heard of it but still."

Mum: "And it's in America as well how exciting is that?"

Jacqui: "Where is it?"

Lachlan: "I don't know."

Jacqui: "What's it called?"

I handed her the letter as she read through it.

Jacqui: "Oh YouTube Uni I've heard of that place, they offer everything from comedy and writing, music, food tech, gaming..."

Lachlan: "Gaming?"

Jacqui: "Hook line and sinker, yeah they have an extremely wide range of courses in gaming, though their system is a weird one but millions upon millions of people know about this place. It's actually mostly the people who don't go to the school who have the biggest impact on a students grade. Anyway gotta run see you later guys."
