It was weird to them, driving through a part of the city which they've used to frequent and then suddenly stopped to frequent, just because time changed, and time changed them. They couldn't even remember if there had been any reason for them to stop going there, to the club Hoseok seemed to frequent quite often. It all just changed, and years later they found themselves again, in the same neighborhood they thought they had escaped from.
Escaped.
Neither Yoongi nor Namjoon were sure if they did indeed manage to escape a place like that, a place where their careers started, a place where they started. A place where they were slowly tearing themselves and each other apart until nothing much of them was left. Differently to Hoseok, they had apparently managed to get as far away as they could from there. But, no matter how much they thought about it, except for tearing themselves apart, there had been no reason for them to leave. It just changed, and then when Hoseok entered their lives, it changed again, and maybe that's the reason why they hated him so much. Because he remembered them of who they used to be, or where they had been trying to escape from. It's hard to let go of any connection to your roots, to where you came from, from the people that made you something, that gave you a chance to become something better.
For them that place had been that club, Cypher, a club that wasn't much of a club, but rather a hotspot for dealers and their big bosses, thinking they were owning the city, when in reality they were just trying to not be caught by the cops. But it didn't really matter anyways, it's where they started, it's where they had gotten their first chance to show the world what they're really made of. And Hoseok?
Hoseok has just been at the wrong place at the wrong time, at least that's how Namjoon and Yoongi felt while driving through the streets that reminded them too much of a past they wanted to forget. And yet, at the back of their heads, both of them knew that Hoseok was just like them, trying to start somewhere, to get somewhere better. The only big difference between them was that they had had each other, while Hoseok had to face all this shit on his own.
And maybe that's why they hated him. Because he was stronger than them, because he had always been stronger than them. Or maybe it's been just the bad reputation he had on campus.
They didn't really know, and at that moment they didn't really care.
What they were mostly worried about at that exact moment was how they were supposed to act around there, in that 'club' of sorts. There has been a day when they told everyone that they would finally leave that fucking shithole, that they wouldn't so shit for them anymore and that they would never come back, because they were better than them, than the scum they were. It's been mostly Yoongi's words, while Namjoon had been standing right beside him, proud of where they got by themselves, wearing a cold poker face, while both of them knew that in reality they weren't any better.
Hoseok was somewhere in the midst of all this, lost, and they needed to find him even if he didn't want them to find him. Both of them knew that feeling, the feeling of wanting to be lost, because that was one constant feeling they had learned to deal with. All other feelings and emotions could just go screw themselves.
"We need to find him." Yoongi muttered while driving his car down the street, his eyes focus everywhere but the way ahead. Namjoon took a quick look over at him, sighing shortly before he moved in his seat to reach over and touch Yoongi's cheek. Yoongi looked over at him for a moment, smiling sadly at the younger. "Do you think we'll find him?" he asked, his voice wavering a little. Namjoon tried to smile at him, though he didn't really do a good job. Yoongi then looked back at the street, or rather the houses rushing past them.
"He doesn't want us to find him, hyung." The younger answered after some time, looking at the houses on the other side of them. Yoongi nodded his head a few times, before he furiously turned off the radio, which was playing a stupid love song he had hated since the day he first heard it. Namjoon chuckled at that, though it was short-lived.
