The one thing that made school bearable for me was history. It was one of my favourite subjects and I loved finding out anything about different cultures, things that couldn't be explained, burials found. I could go on forever with a list, it's something I loved and I was good at.

History consisted of me and four other students, they weren't that interested in history but it sounded like a better option that physics so I didn't particularly blame them. I chose to sit by myself in this class as we had the space and I didn't really want to sit with any of them.
My seat was next to the window, it overlooked the grounds the school was on with huge glass windows you could see straight into the woods that surrounded the back end of it.

As I sat down I made a note of putting my bag on the chair and emptying the contents of what I needed, the teacher Mrs. Veta was always late, she was middle aged and when she talked about a period in history that excited her she flailed her arms around manically.

The door to the classroom opened and I expected it to be the teacher however I saw Sunshine, the girl that everyone and their grandma were talking about. We made eye contact and I shifted where I was looking, making a point not to look in her direction. Her footsteps got closer to me until she was in front of my desk.

"Is this seat taken?" She asked, mentally I was saying yes by my bag but I was taught not to be rude to newcomers and I made a rule to try to be welcoming.
"No" I removed my bag so she could sit, she almost ran to sit down, jumping into the chair. She looked relieved and I wasn't sure why.

"I'm Sunshine but people usually call me Sunny"
"Like in the series of unfortunate events?" My big mouth could never control itself and it's like my brain didn't filter what was and wasn't acceptable to say. I cringed as soon as the words left my mouth.

To my surprise she laughed, it was an infectious smile nothing like Alicia's she looked as though she was happy rather than on drugs.
"Yeah I guess it is like that. I never noticed before" she grinned at me I noticed the small gap in between her top teeth.

"I really do like your name though, it's unique" Was it unusual? Yes. Absolutely. But was it one of the coolest names I'd ever heard? Also yes. Absolutely.
"Really? I always wondered what it'd be like to have a 'normal' name" she put quotation with her fingers as she said normal.
"Who says your name isn't normal? What is the standard of normal names?" What was the standard? A names a name at one point no one would dare to call their child princess, yet here we are.
"You know you're the first person other than my family to say that" she looked away from me to the teacher who had just entered.

I shrugged whispering, "because it is",
Mrs. Veta had already wrote a title on the whiteboard she enjoyed writing more than a PowerPoint and she always seemed to make interesting,
"Goodmorning class, I see we have a new member, welcome to history your bound to love it" she beamed at Sunny, "moving on from that as one of your last weeks before break I thought it would be a good idea to do a paired project... the topic is Ancient Rome, you can present it anyway you like the best project gets a prize. You will have today's lesson only to plan after that you do it your time , the hand it date is the end of this month"
Inwardly I was groaning so loud I hated any form of group work. I was always the one who pulled her weight whilst everyone made excuses of why they couldn't do it. It was my biggest pet peeve.

"Hello? Did you hear what I said?" I turned to look at Sunny confusion written on my face. "I'll take that as a no, I said do you want to be my other half to a pair?" I rolled my eyes at her way of saying it
"I don't really need one" I stated she looked around the room,
"Oh silly me I forgot you were already partners with that girl right there or did I miss that transaction and your just trying to get out of paired work?" She asked skeptically
"Toućhe" I looked out the window sighing "so do you have a subject from Ancient Rome?" I said turning back around to face her.
"Um maybe the emperors? Like calligua?"
"Yeah sure"
