By the time Gon and Killua arrived at the borders of the endless woods, Ging was already deep in the gates. Before Ging had left he had told Reya about Gon. It was strange to Reya that a man that spent so much time putting space between his son knew so much about him. Because despite what Ging pretended, he really did notice his son. The second the Gon and Killua entered the woods Reya sensed them. Since she knew who they were she decided to study them first. They walked casually through the trees and neither seemed to notice they were being watched. Gon seemed right at home in the deep forest surrounded by exotic animals. Killua on the other hand, tensed whenever an animal sounded to close. Reya smiled. The loud ones are the lest dangerous here, she thought. It's the ones you don't see that cause the most damage.  Finally Gon spoke.

"Ging said his friend would find us, I wish they would hurry." Killua smirked.

"What are you getting bored?"

"Not bored, but I want to get a move on with things." Above them Reya almost laughed listening to them banter. These two are exactly as Ging described them. It was not until sunset that things got interesting. The buddies were still walking casually, but the more dangerous animals were coming out to hunt. Reya tensed listening to the day animals retreating and the cheerful sounds slowy died out. Soon the forest was almost dead silent and a mist fell across the trees. Gon and Killua sensed the change in mood, but did not say anything. Suddenly they both stopped. Reya froze. Of all the places to stop, here was not good. She was about to leap out to get them to keep moving when something rustled in the bushes next to them. Reya crouched into a better position and hesitated to see how they would react. Both Gona and Killua had turned towards the noise and were silent as they waited to see the cause of it. finally a little rat like creature poked it's nose out. It had silver fur and red eyes. It's teeth were barred and it had razor sharp claws. The rat slide almost silently out of the bush and hissed. It was only then that they saw the other eyes. All around them, red eyes glared out of the darkness. Everything moved simultaneously. The lead rat lunged only to have Killua kick it away. Gon and Killua fought back to back, dodging and taking out as many rats as they could. But Reya could see that the constant flow of enemies was getting to them. Killua spun on one foot and lashed out with the other leg. He knocked the rats back with his yo-yo's but they kept getting up. Where ever Gings's friend was they better come soon, he thought. It was then that he made his mistake. He swung to hit a bigger rat and left himself open. A small and lightning fast rat sunk it's fangs into his calf. Immediately black spots sprung into his vision. He fell to his knees and the rat pack slunk to the shadows. They hissed and paced restlessly. Gone turned to Killua.

"Killua, are you okay?" Killua braced his palms against the ground and squeezed his eyes closed. His leg was burning like a thousand needles were stabbing him. I don't understand. He thought. I am  immune to poison, so why? Before he could figure it out the biggest rat lunged again. Gon cried out a warning but it was to late for either of them to react. Killua braced for the pain, but right as the rat closed in for the kill a figure dropped from above, knocking the animal to the ground. Killua and Gon watched in shock as the stranger pulled out a wooden staff and expertly lept and struck the animals. In minutes the rats had retreated till it was just the lead rat facing off against the girl. She held the staff loosely at her side and stared it down. The rat spat and hissed, but it did not attack. Finally it turned and ran off into the woods. The girl rushed to Killua and Gon. The last thing he saw before the darkness took over was the strange girl and Gon  looking down at him nervously.
