After a night of flying they were finally getting close. Reya signaled for the birds to drop them off in a thick patch of trees. They had been walking for about ten minutes before Reya stopped abruptly.
"What, did you forget the way?", Killua said. Reya glared at him and pulled out her little whistle again. She blew into it and the rope ladder tumbled from the tree.
"Right, cause I have only been here a million times." She stuck out her tongue at them and climbed quickly up the rope. Killua seemed shocked for a moment before he smirked and followed her up the rope. He would never tell anyone this, but he was starting to warm up to Reya. Maybe even... No, bad. Don't think about that he told himself. Besides they had more important things to focus on. Still when he reached the platform at the top, he could not stop the sick feeling in his stomach when he saw Reya hugging some random guy.
He cleared his throat and they pulled apart. Reya smiled and stretched her hands out.
"Well, we made it. This is one of the Ranger camps." Gon looked around in amazement, but Killua was still studying the boy next to Reya. He had the same brown curly hair and green eyes. Could they be related?
"This is Torren, he is going to show you guys around and I will catch up with you later." Torren groaned playfully.
"I should have known not to welcome you, now I have to give the tour!". Reya stuck out her tongue and let herself fall off the wooden platform into the trees below. Torren turned to Gon and Killua with a smile.
"Welcome to our camp."
Time Skip
All around Gon and Killua the Rangers were laughing and swinging across the trees like they had wings. Torren had finished the tour a while ago and they were only waiting for Reya to meet them. She had just stepped into view when something tackled her to the ground.
"Huh?", Gon and Killua rushed forward to help her only to see her sit up laughing. Three little kids were laughing and hugging her. One was a little boy in a red vest with black trim and black shorts. There were two girls, one with brown hair in braids and the other had black hair in a ponytail. The brown haired girl was in blue overall shorts and a white shirt with purple shoes. The other had a little purple dress and black shirt and leggings on beneath it. They all had greenish eyes but the boy had spiky white hair.
"Reya! You are finally back". The black haired girl giggled and squeezed her.
"Nei, Zia! I love you, but you are choking me!". With some difficulty, Reya stood and smiled at the boys.
"Hey guys these are my siblings. This little monkey is Izari", she pointed to the white haired kid perched on her shoulder. "This one is Zia", she said pointing to the black haired girl, who smiled shyly and hide behind Reya. "And this is Yara", the girl looked at them and smiled mischievously. Reya smiled down at them before turning back to Gon and Killua.
"And you guys already met my twin brother, Torren." Killua felt a strange sense of relief when she said that. Yara huffed. She hated waiting and it had been forever since she had seen Reya! She pulled on her sisters arm, trying to get her moving.
"Reya! You promised that you would race us when you got back to camp!". Izari lept from her shoulder and grabbed her other hand.
"Yeah! and this time we are gonna beat you!" Reya laughed and let her siblings pull her towards the back off the camp. Reya glanced at Gon and Killua with a slight smile.
"You guys want to see our obstacle course?". Gon grinned.
"You kidding? Finally we can do something fun!". The group laughed and let the little kids pull them along. After about a half hour of leaping through the the trees they came to a huge cliff. Without hesitation, the Rangers began to climb quickly up the rocks. Killua and Gon stared at the small kids leaping up the massive cliff, barley even breathing hard. Then with identical grins they climbed the cliff. When they got to the top they had expected more trees. But instead there was a massive stone arena. Reya and her siblings were already at the top of a stairway waving for the boys to hurry up. The arena was a smooth grey stone with ivy and vines working their way around the structure. The inside of the arena was like a colosseum with a massive obstacle course in the center. The little kids scampered up a high ladder and were waiting on a platform about 50 feet in the air. Reya turned towards Gon and Killua with a smile.
"You guys ready to see the most epic race ever?". Gon smiled excitedly.
"Hai!!!".
Reya grinned and climbed the ladder to meet her siblings. Gon and Killua took a seat on one of the benches and looked excitedly up at the platform. Izari and Reya crouched at the edge of the platform. Yara and Zia stood behind Reya with wicked smiles.
"You ready sis?". Reya ruffled Izari's hair.
"Please, I just hope you have mentally prepared for your crushing defeat!". Yara laughed.
"I'm only worried that your ancient bones won't hold up."
"Wow, I see I have taught you the art of smack talk very well." Zia giggled.
"Alright, cut the conversation! Lets get this race started!". All the siblings crouched.
"Ready....set.....GO!". They all sprang into the air and stretched out for the ropes hanging a few feet in front of them. They all hit the ropes. but just as Reya went to swing off, Izari slammed into her side. She slid down the rope to stabilize herself. Zia and Yara were swinging from rope to rope like little monkeys but Izari simply hung from his rope with a evil smile on his face.
"Oh, you guys thought ahead, huh?. Well if you won't play by the rules neither will I!". With that, Reya flicked her wrist. A thin blade with a black cord attached shot from her leather wrist guards. It sunk into the wood of the platform on the other side of the arena. she launched off the ropes and pulled herself to the blade. She flipped off the support beam, pulling the blade loose. She landed gracefully in a crouch at the top of the platform. She vaulted onto the tiny wooden beams in front of her. As she jumped gracefully something whistled over her shoulder. She turned for half a second to see Zia loading something into her slingshot as Izari and Yara tried to catch up desperately. She activated a tiny bit of her aura to deflect the little rocks. But one of Zia's shots hit the thin wooden poles and broke right through it just as Reya put her weight on it. She yelped and dropped a few feet. She caught herself between two wooden planks. Above her, Yara and Izari scampered past her. She grinned and pushed towards the ground with her aura. She rocketed into the air before landing lightly on a moving log. She clung to it until it swung close enough to the end platform. Before she could release the log to chain holding it shattered. She barely held on as the log tumbled to one side. She looked back to see Yara lightly flip one of her blades in her hand. Smirking, Reya swung the log back and forth to get momentum. Finally she launched into the air. as she tilted to the platform the little imps racing her appeared next to her in the air. All of the siblings looked directly at the platform, flying like birds through the air. Reya rolled as she hit the platform and whipped around to see where her siblings were. Yara tumbled onto the platform, barely clearing the distance. Izari slammed right into her as she tried to get up. Next Zia came crashing through the air. But she did not quite make it. Gon gasped as Zia startled to fall to the ground. Zia squeezed her eyes shut, bracing for the impact. But instead of hitting the ground though she tumbled into something soft. She opened her eyes to see Reya smile at her.
"Zia, what did I tell you about jumping to early?". Zia smiled back
"Well you may be right, this time!"
"Wow, okay then smartypants. You can catch yourself next time!". Reya huffed and dropped her. Zia giggled and scampered to her feet.
"That was so cool!". Reya looked up to see Gon barreling towards her from the stands.
"You guys are like monkeys! Can you teach me how to do that?". Reya laughed.
"You will have to learn if you want to get to the outer world." Killua finally joined them at the bottom.
"You mean we are not going straight to the gate?".
"Well, we could. But you would probably die." Gon looked confused.
"Oh... So what now?". Reya shot him a look .
"You train obviously. You can't go now, so we just have to up your abilities." Killua snorted.
"I think we'll be fine with our training."
"Right, because even though you couldn't beat a couple forest rats you can get through the gateway." He glared at her for a minute.
"Fine, when do we start?" Reya grinned and started to walk away.
"Get some sleep, we start in the morning."
