-TWO YEARS LATER-
You adjust the wedding dress so that it flows nicely and you hear the tinkle that signals the door opening.
"Honey, I'm sorry I'm late, I was..."
He stops midway his sentence, stunned beyond belief.
"What do you think, NamJoon? It's a beautiful dress, isn't it, Mr Husband-to-be?"
"The person wearing it made it beautiful. My breath just got stolen away. Everyone will be so envious of you."
He steps up while you step away, giving the soon to-be-married couple some space.
You look at the adoring way he looks at her, and you are glad that he has found someone who can make him happy.
Two years ago, he didn't catch you at the airport. He had only managed to stare at you through the glass panels as you turn away from him, for the last time. It was the most painful decision you ever had to make. You knew in your heart that you didn't have the strength to face things together with him. That it would be the same thing from years ago in the first place. Being in the forefront of the media craze, always on edge, it wasn't a life that you wanted at all. That life would have killed you, slowly, inch by inch and in turn, it would have killed him too.
He had finally realised that too, when the flashes behind him started to light up the place. He understood that you turned away not only from him, but also from the life that came with him. And so, he made his own painful decision.
To let you go.
The both of you let the night before become a bittersweet farewell to whatever it was that you had. Friendship, love, comradeship, being soulmates. You both mourned and grieved the loss of this unique relationship.
It was only a year later, when you bumped into him on the streets of Tokyo that you two started mending your friendship.
The both of you knew how each other felt, both listening to each other's music. You finally completed the album for Ailee and she did a beautiful job of bringing out the emotions you wanted the songs to depict. He released another mixtape, revealing a lot of his feelings and how he dealt with everything.
It was an awkward and uneasy friendship at first, but the rapport the both you had before eventually seeped in and softened that.
You were the first few people he'd come to for opinions on music. You went to him for advice on whether to pursue music or your plans for a wedding boutique. He had told you both. You were the first he confessed to that he was seriously dating her. He was the first to know that you signed the lease for your new shopfront and workshop.
Over the year, things happened and life went by you.
Your feelings never faded.
When he told you that he was going to propose, you got all excited for him and celebrated. You cried yourself to sleep that night.
You knew from the moment you turned away from him that you can never be with him anymore. You had chosen to let go of this, yet your heart refused to let this fade. The feelings had been buried under work and stress and you thought that it had gone away.
It resurfaced during the course of your friendship and you tried to bury it deeper down, only to fail spectacularly.
Your wedding boutique is doing well now, and you are letting Hana take over a lot of the reins.
You have been sourcing for a suitable place to open another shop front in other countries. You knew it was running away from this, but you needed the space to even begin getting over him. It was impossible when he was popping by all the time, what with Bangtan having so much promotions in Japan itself.
