Jessica
It had been three weeks since Junior came to study with me at my table. We had gotten closer by then and actually shared a few secrets that most people didn't know about.
Each day was filled with some weird conversation that always turned out funny because of the things he would say. We were already in March and writing our exams.
So I decided to hit him up with a good one because he always hated guests at our table. 'So J, I've been meaning to ask you something.'I started with a mischevious glint in my eye that only he knew too well. He eyed with his own eyes rising to the challenge.'Cool. Shoot J.' I laughed at the mention of the J. He insisted on calling me that when he realised I had taken to calling him that instead of his real name.
According to him we were the crazy J and J that wrecked havoc on people if we chose.'You seem to forget that you're a visitor here at my table. Don't act so pompous thinking you're the master. Do you want me to embarrass you too?' He looked shocked by my words but only he knew I was joking.'You wouldn't dare!' He said pointing an accussing finger at me.
'Oh but I would dare.' I taunted him just so I could laugh at his shocked and irritated face.'No you can't. I'm a partner in this entity too. I have shares here, okay? That means that I also call the shots. And no,you aren't kicking me out!'
I just smiled at his determination.'Oh,and what makes you think you're a patner and You share in my table as a member of this parogody and not as a visitor?'
'Well first of all you didn't bring the table here. It's property of the school. And I think I have enough rights to it because I have been entertaining the owner for the last few weeks.' He offered me a smug smile afterwards.'That constitutes nothing. Tell you what, let's make a deal. As long as you keep entertaining me, and supporting even my stupidest ideas , you've got a place here.'
'Lol, like I have to be told twice.'
' Yes, you do', I told him. We spent the rest of the night goofing around in between studying.'You know what? I think you're a distraction. Since you came here I haven't been able to study. ' I pursed my lips and tried to look intimidating.
' Don't look at me like that. And I'm not the cute who keeps talking about everything and can't keep her mouth shut.' I looked at him totally shocked.
I'm not cute,Okay? I'm talkative, but I'm not the one who wants to challenge everything I say. That's why we always end up having an argument .' I glare at him daring him to challenge what I've just said. Luckily, he keeps his mouth shut and doesn't say anything.
We don't say anything for the rest of the night. When we only have five minutes left of the studies, he turns and looks at me intently. I try to ignore his stare for about a minute. But my resolve crumbles and I end up losing focus on what I'm studying.
'Urg, spit it out ',I mumble trying to seem nonchalant when I'm nothing but.
'I didn't know that you thought of me as annoying. ' I look at him surprised by his words and even more so his sad face. He still seems sullen so I smile warmly at him. ' Hey, I'll tickle you. Stop being a diva.'
I reach over the table and he shreaks pulling away from me. His chair screeches on the floor and everyone turns to look at us.
' Hey J, come on. I didn't mean it like that you know. Come on, don't be sad please?'
The body master barges in and announces the end of the studying period. I pack up my things ready to head out when a soft hand grabs my wrist. I turn and see Junior holding my hand. 'Partners ', he says before heading out. I'm left dumbfounded and guessing what he means.
