"Please leave, I'll hold them off. Always remember that I love you, with all of my heart. Now leave, baby. Stay strong, stay on your feet, and stay alert. I love you. Goodbye."
My hands slip, and I slowly stumble back.
"Go already!"
The chopping of flesh echoes, and the smell of blood becomes stronger. I step back, not wanting to leave.
More undead creep closer, reaching out, trying to claw at the live woman.
"I won't tell you again! Leave! Run my love!"
I nod, wiping the tears out of my eyes.
"I love you too. Don't you ever forget that!" I shout back, taking off in the opposite direction. My surroundings begin to blur, and I trip, but regain my balance.
A gun starts firing, and the moans of the undead become louder and louder.
I close my eyes, and sprint in the opposite direction, tears streaming down my face.
"Mom," I cry, pumping my legs, forcing myself to go faster.
I dart

My eyes shoot open, and my hand instinctively goes for my knife at my side.

"Whoah, (Y/N), you okay?" Hoseok asks, his hands up.

Mom.

"I'm sorry," I whisper.

"Sorry? For what?"

The low light makes it hard to see his reaction. All I can see are the flames dancing in his eyes. He's crouched nearby, his body now facing me instead of outside. His eye brows are furrowed in concern, his eyes narrowed.

"Hey, you're okay." Hoseok's voice is laced with honey. He's trying to calm me down.

I'm okay. Mom's not. It's my fault she's not.

"Everything's okay right now. It was just a bad dream. We're safe right now. Take deep breaths," he instructs, his hands slowly taking mine.

"Breathe. Just breathe," he advises, his hands encasing mine.

I close my eyes, and take several deep breaths.

"Yes, that's it. Just calm down."

I'm not sure if its the fact that he's someone I so heavily admire or the actual meaning put behind his words, but I feel a lot calmer after a few minutes of this.

"Thank you."

"No problem. Your shift is about to start anyway, so I suppose there's no point in trying to go back to sleep. Jin is shitting in the back room's toilet so don't go there. I think you have your shift with Taehyung. I'll go wake him," Hoseok rattles off.

He gets up, dropping my hands back in my lap.

I stare at them, and slowly close my hands. You're okay. You're safe now. Protect them with your life, and they'll protect you.

I hear people shifting behind me, and a few grumbles. Hoseok returns with a groggy Tae in tow.

"You guys have the last shift. Wake all of us up. Good night."

With that Hoseok stumbles back to the pile of old clothes and blankets we were sleeping on, and Tae sits down beside me.

For a few minutes the only sounds are Jimin's soft snores and the fire's crackling, with the occasional cicada.

"So... What's your favorite color," Tae asks, scratching the floor with his boot.

"It use to be red, but that color is ruined for me now... I like blue. Sky blue," I say, shaking off the thoughts of blood.

"Mine's green now. Green means there's life. And we can all use some life now," he replies.

I nod at his answer, thinking about how life use to be.

For our two hour shift we pass small talk between the two of us, all while making sure no walkers got too close. There was only one, and Tae killed it.

"Hey, the sun's rising," he says, nudging my shoulder, "Time to get moving. Let's fetch breakfast and then wake them."

I nod, getting up and stretching, "Let's go."

We do one last check for walkers before walking between the aisles in search of food. We already distributed all we had between the eight of us, but hey, checking one last time wouldn't hurt, especially now since there was bright light.

I hum to myself while poking through the racks. I gasp when I spot a few lighters on the floor. I bend down to pick them up and pray that they work. I flick them on, and to my relief small flames sputters on. I shove them into my pocket and continue my search.

I find a pack of gum and some ramen.

Taehyung found an ugly denim belt, a bottle opener and a pen. We decided to keep the hideous belt incase we needed a tourniquet.

The sun was halfway in the sky when we decided that was all that was useful in the store.

"Let's get a move on," Tae urges as se head over to the sleeping boys.
