"So are you and Tyler on good terms again?", I asked yb/n while we walked the stairs up, making our way towards the chemistry room.
"Yes", she answered with a small smile, a small blush appearing on her cheeks.
"I'm glad you are. You just can't function without another", I giggled, making her roll her eyes playfully.
Having arrived at the second floor we turned left and entered the room. The first period was about to start and almost everyone was already in their seats. I slid off my coat and hung it up on my chair. I sat down on my desk which was right next to yb/n's and pulled my books out of my bag, placing them on my table.
"Did you hear what happened with...", she trailed off and looked at me as if I was supposed to know who she was talking about.
"With who?", I asked, dumbfounded. She leaned closer to me as if she was going to share a secret.
"Jason", she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
"No..?", I trailed off, looking at her interrogating.
"Mason, you know the kid out of my spanish class I once told you about, did some drugdealing with him. Unfortanely he didn't have the money to pay and tried to fool Jason so he wouldn't have to do it. But of course Jason found out and beat the shit out of him. He's in the hospital now. Apparently he almost died", she explained, whispering the end.
"That's horrible", I said, incredulously. Yb/n nodded just when the bell rang. She shot me one last meaningful look before she turned to the board where Mr. Gim stood.
"Is everybody present today?", he asked. "Jason's missing", Alexa spoke up.
Mr. Gim sighed heavily before writing his name into the register just like almost every time.
"So, today we're gonna start a partner work", he started the lesson. "I'm gonna divide you into groups by twos. Every group gets a different topic to which they have to prepare an at least 5 minutes long presentation. Every group has to present their results infront of the class next week so you have learned something about every topic that way when every group is done", he explained, while laying a film on the overhead projector. "These are the groups", he said, switching it on by pressing a little button on the left side of it.
"The construction of the members aren't out for discussion, I put them together this way on purpose", he said sternly, making a lot of students groan in annoyance.
My name was at the bottom of the list - right next to Jasons.
Great, I thought, looks like I have to do this all on my own.
But as if on cue the door suddenly got slammed open and in walked no other than Jason. I heard someone behind me whisper "He's so fucking hot" and she wasn't wrong.
He wore a black hoodie with some kind of black sweatpants, red vans, black shades and a cap which was placed backwards on his head like usual. He had a black nike backpack on his back, not that he carried any useful things for school in it anyway. Without uttering a single word he made his way towards his desk, throwing his backpack next to it carelessly before plumping down on his chair, either ignoring all the eyes on him or just not noticing them anymore. "Mr. McCann?", Mr. Gim said, his voice stern. Jason snapped his head up, a mocking smirk making it's way onto his face. "Jonathan", he spoke, calling him by his first name, his voice laced with arrogance. Mr Gim's nostrills flared in anger, blood shooting to his face as he strode toward Jasons desk. "Now let me get this straight little boy", he hissed, leaning down so they were face to face.
"First of all, don't call me by my first name ever again. Secondly, you may be able to get through with this behaviour with the other teachers but I do not tolerate this in my class, are we clear? You aren't allowed to come and go like you please. Next thursday I want you to be in this room at exact 7:30", he spat sternly.
Jason let out a low chuckle before collaring Mr. Gim and within less than a second his ear was only inches away from Jasons mouth.
"Now let me get something straight. I'm already in a very bad mood today and if I were you I wouldn't push it", he spoke, his voice low and as cold as ice, making shivers go down my spine.
You could've cut the tension in the room with a knife, no one daring to make a single sound.
"Don't ever talk to me like that again. You may think you do but you don't know what I'm capable of. Now go on and continue your joke of a lesson, we don't wanna cause a scene and anything to happen to your beautiful daughter do we ?", he smirked sickeningly, before pushing him toward the board, causing him to stumble a few steps back.
Mr. Gim threw one last glance at Jason who only waved his hand toward the board condescendingly, indicating for him to walk to the front again, making a few guys snicker, holler and clap at him sneery. As I watched the whole scene unfold I couldn't help the uneasy feeling settling my stomach.
Were all those horrible rumors about him true? I never believed in them since I once got to experience fake rumors being spread about me myself but the way he acted fit exactly in all the stories I heard about him.
Pull yourself together, I scolded myself, I can't judge him like that without really knowing him. Everbody deserves a chance.
