Pennysylvania,6:30PM

I laid restlessly in an old apartment I had found unlocked. At any second granted, one of them could come in and pull out my guts.I had immunity to the virus, but I didn't have immortality;I could simply die from excessive amounts of blood loss.No one would be there to care,so I'd honestly have no reason to fight back.My death just wouldn't be important.

However,I value my life in many ways and I look upon my history with great pride. So maybe,I'd be the one to care too much about my life to let it meet my death.

As I laid on the dusty mattress and unmade bed, death scenes replayed in my head.Consistently and increasingly morbid they took over my mind.I allowed myself a slumber and woke up hours later,I had been exhausted from the stress of the real world. My dreams were such a wonderful escape.

Pennysylvania,10:30PM

I headed out that night, relatively rested despite a deep sleep. The witches, when they were alive of course, had a meeting where they mentioned that the creatures didn't roam the streets at night, the only thing is that you wouldn't be sure when it was clear. What was their definition of night?

I peaked out of the apartment window and saw that the streets were clear.

I ran over to my bed and grabbed my book bag, making sure I had my gun, ammunition, and some water bottles.Seeing I had everything,I made my way out.

As I ran,I heard noises behind me."Could I have woken them up?" I think to myself.

I walk a little faster and finally reach my tiny convertible.I switch my flashlight on and search the car for anything suspicious.Fortunately, nothing is found.

So I get into my car and lock the doors, reassuring myself more than once that the doors are locked."New York is just a state away" I repeated multiple times to myself. With that,I drove off into the starry night, unusually nervous.

New York,12:00AM

Surprisingly,I arrived and the city lights were still there. The street lights and the building lights. However, dead people were beginning to flood the sidewalks. As they all clumsily bumped into each other while walking on the pavement,I attempted to drive around crashed cars.

Some cars showed evidence of burning. The accidents were probably inexplicably horrendous in New York.I find a grocery market after hours of searching.Getting out of my car,I realize I'm exposing my flesh to everything out there. However, instead of chickening out,I finally understand what it's like to be an independent woman.I scope out the grocery market and don't find anything but dead bodies, must of not survived the virus process.

I finally finish gathering my canned foods and I'm about to leave when I hear a ruffling noise behind me.I aim my gun at the second shelf where I heard the noise and seconds later a person walks out, aiming there gun at me.We both slowly lower our guns, astonished looks on our faces.

Tall, purple curled hair, pale skin, and gleaming blue eyes. She also had piercings and tattoos blanketing her body. She cleared her throat and spoke with a raspy voice "No fucking way! another human?!"

"Thought you were the only one?" I cross my arms in sudden pride.

She chuckles ever so slightly and gestures me to follow her.I stick my gun in my combat boots, ignoring the dangers of it.

We climb down a latter and end up in a small, chilly room."Look what I found."

"Ew" a squeaky voice exclaims from another room  "Is it a dead zombie,or liiike, roadkill?"
