New York, 8:43 AM
"I know you're sh-shocked,I am too" his warm, light brown eyes glistened in freight,or isolation,I don't know. His hair was styled in a forward quiff and he had white gauges that looked nice on his tan skin pigment that had a couple patches of purple. He also had a few tattoos here and there and a septum.
"Do you have an accent?" I asked, taking notice of his speech."I'm Australian, lived in Australia until the other day when I woke up on the streets of another country it seems" he struggled to speak.
"Okay, well now you got to beat it." I had no time for this. I had to get back soon before the walkers loaded the streets.
"Wait, take me with you, please." He looked at me with this face, I didn't know what it was. It looked desperate. His face said a lot.
"Dude,no,I cant. The others will kill me."
"There's others?" His face lit up.
"No. Go home."
"Did you completely ignore my story? My home is in another country."
I turned and gave him a straight look.
"I'm alone. I don't remember much about myself. I have fuzzy memories, and I know my full name and country. That's about it."
I sighed. I couldn't just leave him.
"Fine, but you're helping me find barricades, and just so you know, Kat wont be happy about this."
Skylar's face lit up once again "I don't know who that is, but dude, thanks. Like a ton. I really appreciate it."
"It's okay. I guess it can't hurt to help, right?" I cursed myself out in my head. I had this bad feeling.
Light were breaking across the earth in pink hues. We drove around until we found a-I guess you could call it a Home Depot. It looked more like a construction area.
"Kay. We're here." I cleared my throat. Skylar look at me and nodded, getting out.
"Hey! What are you doing?" I asked astonished.
"W- what?" He said with a perplexed look.
"You're not loaded. This place could be swarmed."
I pulled out a handgun from underneath the seat and handed it to him. "Stay loaded. We're low on ammo, so don't waste it."
Skylar looked nervously down at his gun.
"Put it in your pocket, Sky." I breathed rolling my eyes.
He did what I said. We walked to the tall, destructed building as the sunlight trickled against the dusty corners of the inside, peering through the mangled windows. Cracked, broken and destroyed completely. It was a sad sight, to see a store in which families used to attend in such a shape. It was a constant reminder of what was happening to the world, and how it's unknowingly going to stay.
"Home Depot?" Sky said.
"Yes. I do believe they have doors here." I said deep in thought.
He grazed his hands over the dusty, metal, orange, twin doors. He pushed to open, but they wouldn't budge.
"How ironic" He said breathlessly, after an effort to shove and push the doors open. "The place we need to get barricades at is barricaded."
"Its barricaded for a reason" I said keeping note. "Someone obviously did this to keep something from getting out, and someone from getting in."
Sky didn't reply. He coughed nervously.
"Lets go around the back. We'll break open one of the windows and go in through there. Keep yourself locked and loaded and keep your eyes peeled" I told him.
