The story ahead is about many things that are near and dear to my heart. Its scenes are woven from elements of my life. Reality turned fiction and fiction remade into new fiction. The entire book is dedicated to my mother, who raised me on all of these things. Most especially the bedtime routine.
The role of Penelope is dedicated to my little sister, Nicolina. The role of Princess Peppermint is dedicated to my cousin Janine, a real-life tooth fairy. The roles of King Keratin and Queen Flossilda, a.k.a. Flossy, are dedicated to Janine's real-life parents, Andrea and Salvatore Pate.
An extra special thanks to Grandma for calling just about all the girls "Flossy" and another extra special thanks to Uncle Sal for inventing Miss Krabbtree.
The role of Prince Kavity is dedicated to my cousin Andrew Pate. Cristina and Anthony Pate will have to wait their turns in upcoming novels. Don't think I forgot my other two favorite cousins.
To Grandma, Pop-Pop, Aunt Kim, Uncle George, Aunt Stacey and cousin Justin, thank you for the memories. They are what started it all.
A special thanks to Janine for the use of her childhood stuffed turtle, Puck, for the story. A special thanks to Uncle Kevin for the use of his childhood stuffed monkey, Zippy, for the story. A special thanks to Janette Pelligrini for the use of her childhood stuffed bear, Rosie, for the story. A special thanks to Aunt Viki for the use of her childhood stuffed bear, Tuffy, for the story. A special thanks to one of my best friends, Alex Luttinger, for the use of your three pooches, Frodo, Koda and Forest as the fearsome three-headed dragon they think they are.
And of course the most important role is dedicated to my knight in shining armor, the real Sir Theodore.
