"How can we get into Grendelmere's castle?" Prince Misereoux asked. "He'll know his only brother, amongst the other royals and don't you think a little girl would be suspicious?"
"Of course!" The Fable Keeper replied. But she had a tricky idea up her sleeve. "We'll disguise ourselves as Nightmares to get in. Prince Misereoux's will have to be especially unrecognizable."
"That is a good idea," Sir Puck admitted. Penelope felt a little nervous herself. Even with a disguise, they would still be surrounded by Nightmares who could discover their true identities at any moment.
"We'll need your help, Prince Misereoux. Can you conjure up some dream sand to create our disguises?" The Fable Keeper asked. The prince could not believe what he was hearing.
"I haven't been able to conjure dream sand in eight years! You know that! You know my curse!" he reminded them.
"All you need to do is believe you can do it," The Fable Keeper assured him. Prince Misereoux shook his head.
"You don't understand. That's not how it works," he insisted. Penelope looked up at him, now curious as to how exactly dream spinning worked.
"How does it work?" she asked innocently. Prince Misereoux sighed with frustration. He sat down in the nearest chair looking quite drained and defeated.
"Dream spinning is something that comes from the heart. You don't just do it. One must be born with the passion to create Dreams . . . or Nightmares," he explained. Penelope realized what the problem was.
"You can't do it because you can't fall in love anymore," she said. Misereoux looked up and nodded. Penelope thought to herself for a moment. Now as we all know, like in any good story, the counter for a curse is usually the kiss of true love. If Princess Peppermint was once Prince Misereoux's true love then she must still love him even though she doesn't remember it. Also, Princess Peppermint's father, King Keratin of the Tooth Fairies informed Penelope that true love's kiss would break their curse. She turned to The Fable Keeper and the Knights.
"I think Prince Misereoux and Princess Peppermint need to go on a date for this plan to work," Penelope announced. Everyone's eyes widened in shock.
"What!?" they all burst out in unison. Her suggestion had nothing to do with their plan it seemed. Princess Peppermint blushed with embarrassment. Prince Misereoux became flustered and overwhelmed with anxiety.
"Well, yes," Penelope said. "If the prince and the princess are under a curse; one to be unable to love and one to forget they loved the other, then we have to break the curse so Prince Misereoux can make Nightmare disguises. If we send them on a date and give them some time to get to know each other, maybe Princess Peppermint will fall in love with him again and love leads to kissing and usually true love's kiss breaks curses."
"I don't think that's possible if I can't love her in return," Prince Misereoux admitted. They all turned to him in annoyance.
"You have to try," The Fable Keeper scolded. She turned her gaze to Penelope approvingly. "And I like Penelope's idea. We will follow through with it."
"What!?" Peppermint and Misereoux shouted in unison. They were clearly against the idea, but they had no other choice.
"There will be no arguments! We're pressed for time! And besides, the fate of our kingdoms hangs in the balance! At least let that be motivation to just kiss the girl, if not anything else!" The Fable Keeper scolded. The prince and princess sighed with defeat.
"What can we do?" Sir Puck asked Penelope. The little girl thought for a moment. She didn't know much about how her parents fell in love so she wasn't entirely sure of what they would need for this to happen. She looked around at the knights.
