Chapter 6

It was already midnight when Miss Dolores decided to have a private interaction with him aside from the awkward and secret glances she kept on giving me whenever I bump into her in the hallways.

My roommate Martha almost caught me sneaking out of the room. Thank the heavens for that because if and only if she found out, she'll think i'm trying to elope or something teenagers in this era usually do.

I'm afraid she'll give me thousands of sermons like how Grandpa always does. And I have this feeling that Victorian grandmas are different when it comes to scolding.

It would be a total embarrassment for the whole Bennett Household if people found out one of Bennett's plain maids did something unacceptable.

I have so many questions in my head right now so I decided not to ask them all because I know she'll get annoyed.

"Where's Mr. Douglas Bennett? Too bad I didn't find him, I planned on killing him on my very first day but I can't find him." I asked as I jumped around her bed.

And up to now, I am still doing my best to find Douglas Bennett but no luck. God knows how many times I wanted to just ask the other maids but I'm afraid it'll be the number one suspect if they ever find their employer's lifeless body.

Wow, where did I get this confidence? Will I really have the courage to kill a man?

Anyways, I am in Miss Dolores' chambers and oh my gosh, it is everything I want. This room has a princess-y vibe.

Miss Dolores just playfully scoffed at me while hiding her laughter.

Then it hit me, perhaps she began seeing me as a teenager who likes jumping around fluffy beds. What's next? Pillow fights? Well, I have to admit, that doesn't sound so bad!

I jumped out of the bed which made Miss Dolores flinch because of the sound I just created.

"Keep your voice down. It's not right for a girl like you or anyone in general to say bold things like that. Anyways, you can do your mission after he comes back from his trip." she assured as she smoothens the bed. I felt bad because I was the reason why it was absolutely messy.

"Besides, don't you want that? At least you have more time to prepare," as she shrugged then sat in her comfortable bed.

"Prepare for what? On how to kill him?" I said followed with a snort.

Miss Dolores stared at me for three seconds or what then said, "who knows?"

Suddenly, that brought me chills because she sure was not messing around with me when she told me my very mission.

Gosh, I really do have to kill someone, huh. I didn't realize it'd be a serial killer at the age of nineteen. Believe me, I do like pictures but that doesn't mean I like mugshots.

"And before I forget, Clementine. Your grandfather and I think that the best way for you to accomplish your mission is by staying low. Do not let anyone suspect you." Miss Dolores said, her hands on her laps.

"So be careful especially with Mr. Douglas Bennett's son Augustus Bennett. I heard he sure is a pain in the ass." She added but my mind cannot digest what he just said. Does Grandpa have something to do with all these?

"So Grandpa knew about this? How can he let this happen?" I began walking around the room. Furious.

I want to punch someone right now. I felt so betrayed.

"Like I said, Clementine. This is your destiny ever since you've been born. That is why your grandpa already accepted it." She explained.

"I know but still!"
