I walk him into the hospital and show the nurses my badge. I requested that I be the one in charge of his case. I got him half way down the hall to his room before he fell again. His breathing slowly came to a halt and a few nurses ran over to us. They gave him oxygen and helped my walk him into his room.
He started to wake up. He looked down at his gown and felt at his mask. I walked over to him and laughed. "Yes I put the gown on you. It was very unpleasant." I saw him smile at me through the mask as he relaxed his breathing. He gestured toward his mask. "You stopped breathing. They needed to put you on oxygen. They requested me to check your breathing every half hour." Suddenly an alarm went off on my watch. "It's time to check." I took my stethoscope and listened. "Your breathing is almost perfect now." I look at him. "Do you think you can go without the mask? I'll still keep you on oxygen," I held up an oxygen tube. He nodded and I walked over and pulled the mask away from his nose and mouth. Almost immediately he couldn't breath again. I quickly placed the tube over his nose and his breathing regulated. He smiled at me again though he was crying. I started to walk away but he grabbed my arm. "Please don't go. I'm scared." I smile slightly. "I promise everything will be okay. As long as I'm your doctor."
