Chapter 4

~~~~~~~~~
I stare at the computer screen and out at the MRI. I stop the machine and walk over to him. He looks at me hopefully but I only shake my head. "You're mentally stable...I'm not sure how long I can keep you out of prison...." I feel tears falling from my face and I see a few fall from his face. "But I haven't gotten the blood-work back yet...something could be happening.." He nods and tries to get up. I help him into the chair and back to the room. "I promise everything will be okay."
We get back to the room and I help him back into the bed. "Sebastian, I need you to tell me if you have any family history of any disease." He looks at me and says nothing. "It's really important that you tell me...." He cut me off. "My mother had a tumor in her stomach. My sister did as well. My wife and daughter had one in their abdomens. And most recently, my father had one in his chest...and so did my three year old son. Both dead within weeks of being diagnosed. It just magically skipped me some how..." I look at him. "Would you like me to ultrasound those areas?" He nodded and opened the gown so I could see his body. I started with his stomach. I suddenly stopped and stared at the screen. I turned the screen toward him and there was a small tumor growing on his stomach lining. I brought it down to his abdomen and found another small one in his colon. I didn't even have to look at him to know that he was crying. Hesitantly I moved it up to his chest and moved it around his heart and lungs. I suddenly stopped. I couldn't believe what I saw. There was a giant tumor growing in his right lung.
