Lucy's POV:
I sigh as I sit in front of my vanity. I was all ready tired of the long midnight blue dress my maids had made me put on. Of course they were directed to do so by my mother, so really she is to blame.
I look at my reflection and then to the makeup in front of me. 'Normally Aubrey did my hair and makeup' I think to myself. 'But who would notice if I did it. She did teach me how.'
I smile mischieviously and pick up my primer. 15 minutes later, when Aubrey finally arrives, I had already finished my makeup.
"I am here, I'm so sincerely apologize princess."she says with a hint of sarcasm that only I would catch out of her. Since we were best friends, I knew someone had followed her in to my rooms. It was probably one of my parents, mostly my mother.
"Of course. No problem at all. I have completed the task of my makeup. All you have to complete is my hair. I was thinking a few loose curls but most in an elegant bun." My voice had a little more sarcasm than hers but, for the sake of my mother being here, I had to make my voice and words sound 'like a proper lady and princesses should' as my mother would have said.
"That is not what she is going to do. She will do the style as I have instructed. Isn't that right Miss Johnson." My mother said. Though it seems like something to say as a question, but no. With my mother she doesn't ask... She demands.
"Of course Your Majesty." Aubrey answers. Her usual smile no where to be seen.
"Now you have 10 minutes to get this completed. I will not accept tardiness, now hurry up. I want to see you in the grand hall no later than that." Mother orders before walking out.
"I'm sorry, Lucy. She caught me on my way up. I didn't think she would actually tell me how to do my job. And I really didn't like how she-. OMG your makeup is AMAZING!" Aubrey squealed as she had a squirrel moment.
She turned my head from side to side as she looked. My highlight glistening off my cheekbones. I smiled at my bestfriend.
"Well, I did learn from the best so I wouldn't expect nothing else." I said with a smug smile. She laughed and started on my hair, doing some French twist looking thing.
"Guess who I saw on my way up?" She started gossiping.
"Oh lord. Who?" There is no telling who it would be.
" That hot gardener. He was talking to one one of the lords I think. And he WINKED at me!"
"Seriously!? You should talk to him. Have an actual conversation, instead of just spilling drinks on him." I tell her, bringing up an embarrassing moment.
"Look that was one time!" We both laughed.
Audrey was the one true friend I had. We tell each other everything. She is the only person I really even consider as a real friend. Everyone else is more of acquaintances. We have to keep our friendship a secret though because my mother would freak if she found out. She believes everyone else is under us and that we are only to socialize with those in the Royal Court. But everyone there is stuck up, petty, judgmental and it's really hard not to be snarky with them when they say something rude. It's like they give me no choice but to just scream and yell so, to keep my cool, I just politely small my and stay to myself. Only talking when I get to bored or when nessessary.
She finishes my hair with time to spare. I give her a hug as she wishes me good luck a run down to the grand hall, in my heels which I have to say, I'm excellent at.
Dylan's POV:
I'm sitting at my desk, looking at the files my dad had given me. It was something on the trade between the 3 kingdoms of Azalea. There was another on the training of the Flora Kingdom Army.
Father said it was our "duty" to follow up on all of these things to make the life of the royal family just a little bit easier.
I sigh heavily as I close the files. It was already 11:30 at night, and I really wanted to see the fire comet. It only passed by Earth every 30 years. Being 19, it is my first chance at seeing it.
I walk over to my telescope and adjust the knobs to where the lenses have a clear view. I only had waited a few minutes when I see a bright fiery streak slowly make its way across the pitch-black sky. It seemed to make all the stars disappear.
After about 5 minutes it was gone. I changed into my night clothes and head to my bed. Now I could sleep, my dreams filled with stars, moons, and comets. Not one thing was about being my Fathers heir.
I wake up early the next day to the bright sun coming through my balcony doors. The sky was clear no clouds to be seen.
"Lord Dylan... " I heard a maid call from the door.
Sighing I call, "Come in."
She entered and stood awkwardly at the door. " Your father requested you presence in the grand meeting room, mi'lord." She said.
"Yes, of course. Thank you."
She bows her head and leaves. I get up and walk to my closet. I put on a suit and head to meet my father.
'I really do not want to do this, this early in the morning.' I think to myself.
