The last two periods blurred by. Cordelia met me in front of the school, and I rode home with her in the limo again. She had another fashion meeting, and only had time to drop me off at the front gate before rushing on to it. She gave me permission to ride with Tina and Seth to the fair, which was nice of her. I was getting more and more excited by the minute. I relaxed in the chair in front of my desk/vanity table, and worked on my homework that had been assigned for the weekend. Ugh, why do teachers do that?

I heard the door creak open behind me, and turned around to meet Tina's gaze. “You're wearing that to the Fair?” she asked patronizingly. She was wearing a red sundress with rhinestones lined around the waist in a belt-like design.

“I could ask you the same question,” I said, raising my eyebrows. She rolled her eyes at me, like I had just said something very childish.

“Um, yeah. Duh! This is gonna be like a second date for you and Ethan, and a billionth date for me and Seth, so you gotta wear something dressy. Even Sasha and Jane are dressing up,” Tina explained.

It was my turn to roll my eyes. “Fine, fine. But I am not wearing anything too gaudy,” I said.

Tina decided she was gonna help me pick out the most perfect dress ever, but I think she just really wanted to check out my closet. “Dude! Your closet is epic! Man, what is this, a mini mall? Dang! Look at them boots! Those are designer! And these heels are. To. Die. For!” I laughed at her reaction, and shook my head.

“You can borrow my shoes anytime,” I offered. I really didn't care much for most of the shoes. Don't get me wrong, I love my clothes, but I didn't mind Tina borrowing them every once in a while.

“That's nice. I might just take you up on that offer. And look at this dress! I just love it! Ooh! And just look at these jeans. Girl, I would kill for these! And this skirt...why haven't you worn this yet?” and it just went on and on and on. I swear, she made over everything in the dang closet. We finally decided on the cute dress Ms. Door had bought for me before I left, with the Greek-style sandals.

“How do I look?” I said, doing a little model strut, and turning around.

“Great! Now let's go...Seth should be downstairs waiting for us!” She cheered, linking her arm through mine, and babbling all the way down the stairs.

Seth picked us up in his little pick up truck, and we stopped and picked up Sasha and Simon from the quaint but adorable little cottage. They squeezed into the front with us since it was now illegal to drive down the highway with people in the bed of the truck. I think that's pretty stupid, but maybe that's just me.

About a a quarter of a mile from the fair, the top of the towering Ferris wheel came into view. “Whoa,” Sasha breathed, leaning forward. She seemed totally captivated by the fairgrounds as the came into view.

“First time coming to the Fair?” Seth, taking his eyes off the road for a second to smile at her over me and Tina's heads.

“Yeah. It's amazing,” she said, her eyes never leaving the multiple rides and food stands, all boasting (way too dang high) prices, and lengthy, seemingly unending, lines of smiling people. It was my first time to a Fair, too, so I was pretty amazed myself.

Tina bounced up and down in her seat. “I haven't been to the Fair since I was thirteen. We have to ride the pirate ship -the one that swings back and forth?- it's my favorite! And the Ferris wheel! Oh, it's so romantic looking over the fair from the very top! And, oh my goodness, we have to get some cotton candy!”

“And greasy corn dogs,” Seth reminded her, causing her to wrinkle up her nose.

“Goodness, no! So unattractive!” she said. She went to punch him in the arm, but her easily deflected it, and then caught her hand and held it in his on for a second. The truck had come to a stop, and we were waiting in line behind a trillion other cars.
