AN: O-kay, I may or may not have made a mistake last chapter. Just read through UnOrdinary again and I kinda forgot John doesn't live in the dorms (oops). So I've gone and fixed that.
Now, in this chapter we have John explaining what his ability is and... A little something else.
Anyway, have a great and wonderful day and I hope you all enjoy.
[And now we return to our (not so) regularly scheduled program]
In the previous chapter, we found John's childhood friend Isaac in Wellston High where he was meeting with the headmaster about his enrollment in the school. After that Isaac drove all the way to John's house to surprise him only to be knocked down by a certain time stopping girl who had discovered her friend had been hiding something from her... and everyone else. She had been crying and Isaac took it upon himself to calm her with the passive of his ablity. Now the three of them (and John's father) are in John's living room hoping to straighten things out.
"Firstly I'm, sorry," John started.
He had sat on the couch beside his father while Seraphina had pulled up one of the chairs from the table and sat to John's left against the glass door to the deck. Isaac had pulled up another chair to his father's right and had kicked his legs up on the table (Much to John's dismay).
"I haven't been truthful to you and, I've been a terrible friend for lying. Can you... forgive me?"
"Well," she thought. "I don't know what your friend did, but I was able to think clearly and... yeah," she smiled. "I do. I forgive you John."
John sighed in relief. "Thank you, that means a lot to me. I... I couldn't bear to lose someone like you."
"And you won't," Seraphina told him. "But, I would like it if you guys gave me an explanation?"
"Of course," John's father spoke. "John?"
"Right," John said and folded his hands. "I suppose, my ability is a good place to start?" Seraphina nodded and motioned for him to go on. "Okay. It's name is Mimicry. Basically it, allows me to mimic or, copy the abilities of other people. Like Arlo's barrier, or Elaine's healing."
"Mimicry?" Seraphina asked. "I've... never heard of that ability before."
"You wouldn't have," John said. "As far as I know, I'm the only user."
"Only user?"
"He's right," John's father spoke. "It baffled the doctors and did so even more because neither me or my wife had an ability."
"Huh. Well if that's the case, how did he get it?" Seraphina asked.
"We don't know," John's father replied. "At the age of seven, when abilities tend to develop, he went... missing."
"Missing?" She asked.
"Yeah," Isaac butted in and leaned forward with his feet now on the floor. "We were at the park with our mothers and we decided to go play on the swings I believe. We raced over there and I won, but when I turned around, John was gone."
"Was he, kidnaped?" Seraphina asked in worry.
"We don't know for sure. Nobody saw anything," John's father sighed. "He showed up a year latter at a random gas station. He looked terrible. Dark shadows were under his eyes, his skin was cold and pale, he was underweight, and he couldn't remember anything."
Seraphina's eyes widened and she looked at John in shock. "John?"
It was true. All John could remember was running, then falling, and finally darkness. Almost like an empty space in his memory. As if someone had stolen his them, his very thoughts from his head. After that, he woke up on the side of a lone road.
