When I was released from the hospital, a nurse escorted me to my new room(down the hall, turn right at the first intersection, continue, left, then right, continue to the end of the hallway; last door on the right). I glanced over at the door across from my room.
"What's in there?" I asked the nurse.
"Oh, that? That's just the library," she replied.
No sooner had the words escaped her mouth, and I was racing across to the library. I threw open the door and beheld a wonder. Delicate staircases extended to the ceiling along the shelves. The roof itself was a marvel. Glass arched high above my head and I could see straight through to the brilliant blue sky beyond. And the books! Rows and rows of them extended to what seemed like the end of the earth. I raced over to one and ran my hands along the spines. Kings and Rings, The Knight and the Silver Dagger, A History of Libria... there were so many possibilities!
"Miss," the nurse chuckled from the doorway, "You need to get ready! The welcoming ball is tonight!"
"Of course," I responded, thankful she had drawn me back to reality. I walked over to the door and was escorted to the other side of the hallway where my room waited.
I took the golden doorknob in my hand and turned. I once again gasped at the wonder of my room. The ceiling was painted with stars and came down to white walls. Bookcases covered the walls. A small desk sat in the corner with paper and an ink pen at the ready. My bed was covered with a dark blue cover and light blue sheets. The carpet was soft and plush as I raced over to my closet door. I threw open the door and was astonished to find another, smaller room filled with dresses of every color.
The nurse rapped on the door. "Miss, the bathroom is there," she said, pointing at a door beside the closet. "Please choose a dress and come to the ballroom. If you will excuse me, I must return to my duties." She turned and left.
I pranced over to the red section of dresses; they were organized in color. Red is my favorite color and I choose a diamond-studded ruby red dress with a big, many-layered skirt. I use a black hair tie with a red gem attached to tie my long, light-brown hair back into a tight braid. I waltzed over to the door to where a guard waited to escort me to the ballroom.
