Spider-Man: Edge Of Darkness (Symbiote Saga Part 1)

The Black Suit

(Peter returned home to his bedroom, he promptly laid down in his bed partially frustrated at himself for chickening out)

(That girl was pretty incredible he thought, you just passed up the greatest opportunity ever you idiot, deep down though Peter knew he made the right choice, it would be wrong to canoodle with some random chick no matter how bad she made his lower regions boil, Peter was in the middle of remembering what it felt like when she touched him when a darkness wrapped itself around him without warning, Peter was blinded he was enveloped in black when Peter finally regained his sight he was hanging upside-down from a massive skyscraper in the middle of Manhattan)

SM: "What happened? Where am I?"

(Spider-Man saw his reflection in the building, his suit..it was black, the spider logo had changed color too it was white, he stuck to the wall and examined himself)

("What is this? I feel..stronger. Where'd this come from?")

(Suddenly Peter felt himself leaping off the building and swinging a great distance, he was faster, more agile, it was as if all of his abilities had been enhanced)

(Yes! I feel great! I don't know where this suit came from but it truly puts the amazing in The Amazing Spider-Man!)

(A maniac in a weird costume was giving a speech downtown)

Mysterio: "People of New York! I am Mysterio! I will determine that your planet is ripe for conquest!"

(The people laughed at him)

Mysterio: "Do not dare make a mockery of me! Your fate is sealed!"

Spider-Man: "Hey fishbowl head!"

Mysterio: "What?!"

(Spider-Man swings by and grabs Mysterio and throws him into a car which shatters his helmet)

Mysterio: "I..I give up. Don't..don't hit me again."

(The crowd cheers for Spider-Man)

SM: "That guy looked like he could use a little reality to smack him upside the head. Glad I could contribute."

(Spider-Man swings away as the crowd cheers for him)

SM: "This suit is great! I've never felt this good in my life! Which reminds me there's someone I need to see."

(Black Cat sits on top of the Empire state building overlooking the city when Spider-Man leaps down beside her)

SM: "Isn't a huge hairy ape supposed to carry you up here?"

BC: "What are you doing here?"

SM: "I wanted to see you. I couldn't leave things the way they were. We have a lot of unfinished business."

BC: "But..I thought you said.."

(Spider-Man shushed her)

SM: "Enough talk. It's time for us."

(He hugs her)

(Black Cat sighs happily)

BC: "What's with the new suit?"

SM: "I thought we should have matching colors. You like?"

BC: "I like. A lot."

SM: "Then I think it's time we got down to business." (Spider-Man's mask retracts to reveal his lips)

BC: "Whoa. How'd you do that?"

SM: "You have your secrets." (He wraps his arms around her and pulls her close) "I have mine."

(Without a further moment of hesitation Black Cat kissed him deeply and desperately on the lips, Spider-Man wrapped her up in his webs and left her there much to Black Cat's shock)

(Spider-Man swung away without a care in the world, feeling very satisfied with himself, suddenly his spider sense rang as he heard a scream from below)

SM: "You're not getting away this time Carnage Killer."

(He landed down distracting the man allowing the woman to escape)

Cletus Kasady: "The spider! Love the new look! I see you're embracing the darkness inside yourself. How does it feel?"

SM: "Like it'll help me beat the crap out of punks like you. You're going down pal."

CK: "Ah! I see that the attitude has changed along with the suit! You can't resist it can you? The urge to kill me? To rip me apart piece by piece? Go on then. Don't hesitate!"
(Peter found himself without warning tackling the man to the ground and punching his face in, Spider-Man grabbed a dumpster and raised it over his head prepared to crush the puny insignificant animal into oblivion..but he stopped, and he remembered something from the past)

(Years ago)

Uncle Ben: "Now I'm not saying what he did was right but.."

Young Peter: "That guy is always picking on me! I'm sick of it! I hope I can get back at him someday."

Ben: "No you don't son. Listen to me. Revenge is never the way. You may think this guy Flash Thompson deserves to be punished and it's understandable why. But thinking those thoughts and acting on them are two very different things. If you ever had the chance to get back at him would you take it?"

P: "So I'm just supposed to let him shove me around? You don't understand Uncle Ben."

Ben: "That's not what I'm saying. You have to learn to manage your anger Pete. These impulses are very human but if taken too far..you'd regret it for the rest of your life. You're an extrordinary young man Peter and I believe that one day you'll use your gifts to do amazing things. But with that in mind you must never forget this. Always remember with great power comes great responsibility. Remember that Pete. Remember that."

(Spider-Man shakes his head as he sets down the dumpster gently)

Cletus: "How disappointing. Guess a change of plans is in order!" (He grabs his knife) "Take off your mask Spider-Man! I need to see your eyes when you die!"

(Spider-Man punched Cletus once in the head knocking him out and then swung away quickly, he found himself perched on a gargoyle of an old church, he looked at his hands and thought about the monster he had nearly become the line he almost crossed, Almost? He remembered what had happened with Black Cat, Peter shook his head disgusted with himself)

("I lost control. I couldn't..)

(As the clock struck 6 am the bell rang and the suit reacted to the sound as the black goo seemed to shriek in pain, it was then that Peter realized that this suit was a living thing..some kind of alien parasite he had to get rid of it..now, he hopped down into the bell tower and fought and struggled with the suit using the bell to weaken it as he ripped off chunks of it, finally he managed to get free of the alien substance as it disappeared through the floor, Peter panted hard and left for home, the craziest night ever was finally over, as Cletus Kasady lay unconscious below the church as he bled onto the ground, black tendrils wrapped around him, as they merged with his body the suit changed from black to red, Carnage woke up and roared into the night)
