Monday morning Jamie drove to work. Thank goodness I work at a coffee shop, I don't know what I'd do without my morning wake-up. Jamie made herself a cup of plain coffee with extra espresso shots. This should do the trick. Customers came and went, just like any other day.
Hazel walked in right after Jamie's lunch break. "Hey Jam." She said. "I came to apologize about yesterday.. You're a grown woman and I know you know how much you can handle. I'm sorry for the way I responded, I'm sure things between you and Edward will be... great." Jamie ran and embraced her best friend.
"Hey, I have some new princess books from they series Ally likes? Maybe you could take some home for her." Jamie suggested. The two walked up the stairs to the balcony and Jamie grabbed the books off of the shelf."Here!" she said handing Hazel the books. "She'll love these! So go on."
Hazel tuned to her friend, "I also came to invite you to a movie date. Timothy felt bad that we had to bail, and some new Adam Sandler movie is coming out on Friday. Clark will be there with his new girlfriend, and Sierra is supposedly bringing along a co-worker." Hazel shrugged her shoulders. "I figured you could invite Edward..." Jamie smiled at her friend, "Hazel I'd love to. Will we eat at your place before we go?"
"If you're willing to cook haha!" Hazel let out a small laugh. "Definitely! I'll make pizza for everyone!" Jamie began to feel excited. They walked back downstairs where Jamie checked out the two books and handed them back to Hazel. Before Hazel left, the two friends apologized again for their fight, and they left with everything between as good as new.
Thank you Lord for giving me a best friend as great as Hazel. Jamie looked up toward heaven and smiled until more customers began to trickle in.
Jamie remembered that she needed to call Edward. After she got off work, she called him and explained everything to him: why she had left the date on Friday, why she was AWOL all weekend, and how she felt about him now. "Wow." Edward replied. "Is there any chance I could take you out to lunch tomorrow? I just need to see you in person again." Jamie told him yes, and the next day they ate at Panera.
"So," Edward began with a bite of sandwich in his mouth, "explain to me again how you feel about.... us" Jamie swallowed her spoonful of soup before beginning. "That day in the airport was the worst day of my life, for sure. I had completely fallen in love with you, and when you left the way you did I was heartbroken. But we were young and immature; we were kids. Now we're three years older, and I know you could go back to Michigan at any time, but I think this time we can make the relationship work." Jamie smiled sheepishly across the table.
Edward reached his hands across the table and held her hands in his. "Jamie, I meant everything I said in that airport. You are the most magnificent woman I've ever known, and it broke my heart as much as it did yours to leave like that. I was overjoyed when I heard about the new firm in Jarstown, and they only thing on my mind was that I wanted to see you again." Edward stared intently into Jamie's big blue eyes. "Jamie Hughes, would you do me the honor of becoming my honorary girlfriend?"
Jamie laughed at Edward's ever apparent awkwardness, and nodded yes. Once they had placed their dishes inside, Edward walked Jamie to her car and opened the door for her. Before she could step into the car, he wrapped his arms around her waist and they stood there for a while. "I'll see you on Friday." He whispered in her hear. Before leaving he kissed her on the forehead. Jamie smiled the whole way back to work.

The rest of the week went by slow, the slowest week Jamie thought she'd ever experienced; things had gone so fast on Tuesday. When Friday finally came, Jamie was overjoyed. As soon as she got off work, she buzzed through the grocery store and made it to the Blacks' house.
Her entry was celebrated with the usual "Auntie Jamie!" and hugs. Samuel and Ally were concerned when Edward walked in, giving Jamie a small kiss on the cheek. "Auntie Jamie, is that your husband?" Samuel looked up at the tall man, who seemed like a giant in Samuel's eyes. "No not exactly. You can just call him Edward." Jamie replied.
Edward peered down at the children, who now seemed unafraid. Samuel and Ally each latched on to one of his legs and screamed together, "Edward!" with looks of pure excitement on their faces. This brought on a bout of laughter from all of the adults in the room. Over dinner, Clark introduced his girlfriend, Brooke, and Sierra introduced her co-worker Jordan.
Jamie and Hazel remembered Brooke from high school; Clark had always had crush on her. When he worked up the courage to ask her out after college, she said yes. Although they'd been dating for quite some time, she had never come to the Blacks' house. Brooke was tall and slender, with piercing brown eyes and wavy brown hair.
Her outgoing spirit was what stood out the most. She and Clark balanced each other perfectly, he being slightly more calm and her more outgoing. It was a great example of God's sense of humor, pairing the two together, but they were perfect for each other.
Sierra had met Jordan while on one of her farm trips; she was a traveling veterinarian, specializing in the care of horses and other farm animals. She was in the middle of giving one horse a rectal exam when Jordan, the farmhand, walked in. She had been immediately taken aback by his broad shoulders, perfect jawline and the the sweat glistening on his biceps from having worked outside. He had black hair and the most gorgeous green eyes Sierra had ever seen. Jordan just smiled and introduced himself, and the rest was history.
"Well, history from last Thursday till now." Sierra chuckled, glancing up at her beaming farmhand. "And we couldn't be happier." Jordan leaned over and kissed Sierra on the cheek, which proceeded to bring on a slew of eww!'s from the children.
The rest of the meal was eaten quietly. Carmen, the babysitter, arrived right on time and the four couples headed to the movie theaters. Adam Sandler, as always, had the entire theater cracking up throughout the entire movie. At the romantic parts, the couples held hands, at the funny parts they laughed and once the movie ended, everyone agreed that they had had a great time.
Clark and Brooke said their goodbyes before leaving together, followed by Sierra and Jordan. "Thanks for inviting me Haze, I had a great time." Jamie smiled and said. "Me too, it was great." Edward agreed.
Hazel and Timothy left shortly, leaving Edward and Jamie at the movie theaters. "We could go out for some ice cream?" Edward suggested. "That sounds like a great idea!" Jamie agreed, and the two hopped into their cars and met at a Dairy Queen©.
They were the only people there, so they enjoyed goofing off a little. "Edward, sometimes I wonder if you ever grew up!" Jamie said throwing ice down the back of his shirt. "Oh it's on!" Edward and Jamie continued their ice war, until the manager came back and politely asked them to leave, since the shop would be closing soon.
Edward and Jamie drove back to Jamie's apartment and Jamie asked if he'd like a glass of water, to which he said yes. Once they were inside, Edward wrapped his arms around her waist once more. Jamie turned around to face him and he cupped her face in his hands, planting a small, sweet kiss on her lips before backing off.
He continued to kiss her in short bursts. Finally, Jamie went on her tiptoes and kissed him, and they stood there holding each other in the most passionate kiss either of them had ever experienced.
While they were kissing, Jamie could feel Edward stroking though her wavy hair and moving his hands slowly down the small of her back. Maybe we should stop, she thought, but she couldn't bring herself to pull away. Edward reached the bottom of her back and grabbed into the bottom of her shirt, slowly pulling it upwards. As soon as Jamie realized what he was doing, she pulled back. "What? Did I do something wrong?" Edward stood there confused, all he saw was a look of terror on her face.
"Edward you know I have standards. I made a vow that I wouldn't have sex before marriage, I thought you did too. Now here we are, alone, and the level of temptation is extremely high. I, I think you should go." Jamie turned away from him. "Jamie I'm so-" Edward stopped and walked towards the door. "I'll call you tomorrow." And he was gone.
Jamie locked the door and slid down until she was on the floor, with her head in her knees. Why Lord? We were doing so well? I still love him but I don't know if I can trust him. Lord, help me to not be angry, we were experiencing lust of the flesh. Please forgive me for these actions that I nearly carried out. Lord help me to trust him again.... trust him...She sat there in that position for hours, praying for answers.
