The Dark

Dilated eyes and faint outlines.

A single light shines in the darkness,

Illuminating a page.

Pencil lines like a lovers kiss.

Shapes and shading,

Light and dark,

Contrast of caresses

On the paper in the dark.

There are pictures and words,

Shapes and colors.

Emotions so raw,

Whispers to their lovers.

The page holds a life,

It has its ups and downs.

But the hunched figure,

With eyes wide and brown,

Draws on their creation,

That piece of paper,

In stark illumination,

Their own safe haven.
