Your POV

Me and Mark walked into the place, our fingers interlaced. I was always quite shy, so being around so many people made me slightly uncomfortable. I shifted nervously, and Mark sensed my anxiety, rubbing small, soothing circles on the back of my hand. I started to greet all of the guests, wanting to seem nice and relaxed, even though my heart was pounding against my chest. Mark had gone off to chat with Jack, Bob, and Wade, so I was left alone with Dan, Phil, and Louise. Dan rambled about some horror game, while Phil and Louise took turns narrating a dramatic story. I wasn't really paying attention to the conversation, but I just smiled and nodded occasionally. "And then I was attacked by a sQUIRREL!" Phil yelled dramatically. A couple people gave him odd looks, but I giggled at his bubbly personality. He then started another story where he was sitting next to an old lady, and her contact fell on his arm. I clutched my stomach, my chest aching from laughing at his wacky stories. Even though Phil was 30, he was a 6 year old at heart. Dan started mocking Phil's story, saying something about how "I'm Phil and I get attacked by squirrels and crazy people because apparently I attract crazy people!" I kept laughing, and by this point, I was rolling on the floor laughing. Louise, Dan, and Phil, all chuckled at me, and helped me up. Even though I knew they weren't laughing at me, I still felt self conscious. I excused myself to go to the bathroom, when I saw something that I never thought I'd see. Mark was pressed up against a wall, some random girl kissing him on the lips as she grinded her hips onto his. She had platinum blonde hair, and pounds of makeup piled onto her face. I turned on my heel, tears streaming out of my eyes. Luckily the place was pretty dark and crowded, so I was easily able to slip away from the place that I now despised with all my being.
