Annabeth was trying to teach Percy math. As a joke, she was starting with super easy stuff, acting like she was teaching a toddler. When they got to basic subtraction, Annabeth decided to use a real life scenario to help illustrate the point. "Okay, Percy. If you have 10 blue cookies, and Jason asks for 3, how many cookies do you have left?" Percy thought for a second. "10. Jason know not to ask for my blue cookies, and even if he did, I wouldn't give them to him." Annabeth sighed. "Okay, Seaweed Brain. If you have 10 blue cookies and Jason forcibly removes 3, how many cookies do you have?" She smiled hopefully, as Percy came up with an answer. "10 and a very angry Piper." Annabeth face-palmed, and then she thought of a better way to teach him.

"Percy, if you have 10 blue cookies and I ask for 3, how many blue cookies do you have left?" Percy smiled. "6." Annabeth threw her hands in the air out of frustration. "Oh my gods Percy, this is basic math! How on earth do you get 6 from 10 minus 3??!!" Percy shook his head. "You never said I gave you 3. You said you asked for 3. But my Wise Girl is always too modest. You deserve 4 cookies, and 10 minus 4 is 6. Therefore, if you ask for three, I give you four, and I have six." Annabeth smiled shyly. "That wasn't the question, Seaweed Brain" she muttered. Percy lifted her chin with his fingers, and leaned in, pressing his lips to hers. Half an hour later, they had both fallen asleep in each others arms, the maths exercise book splayed on the floor, long forgotten.
