Meeting an Old Friend

Y-N Pov-

We walk right into Jitters and I see a person who used to be close to me... Iris West. I exhale and walk to the counter. "Hey Iris."

"Who is that?! Oh, hey (Y-N). What you doing here?" She asks happily and then annoyed.

"Nice to see you too!" I say smiling. She rolls her eyes. "I'm getting coffee. I mean, it is a public place." I say and she nods saying that I'm right.

"You would like a Caramel Iced Frappicino with whip cream and extra caramel on top!" She notes before I can order.

"How do you know that?! We haven't talked in years!" I say surprised that she remembered my favorite drink from Jitters. Just so you are clear, she is the one that changed after my dad died. She didn't believe me but she listened to Barry Allen who I haven't seen since college.

"I try to remember the good about you." She says bringing the energy down.

"Iris you were the one that hated me, remember. You would beat me up after school when Barry wasn't there. You told me what I saw was a lie but yet, you listened to Barry! You remember that, Iris! I wanted to be your friend but you called me freak and nerd or even dork... You never did that to Barry... That is why I would beat you up too. Look, I am sorry for the past and want to put it behind me. I was 10, literally 11 years ago... I am ready to move on from that and be friends again, you need to step up to the plate and accept it now!" I grab my drink and leave. I bump into a tall guy with dark brown hair, blue eyes and nice smile.

"Oh, so sorry. I wasn't paying attention!! Oh God, you okay?" He checks on me all shy and concerned.

"Yeah, I was just finishing a chat with Iris over there, got a little angry and didn't see you. Sorry- oh my God!! Shut up!!" I realize who it is, Barry Allen!!

"Um, I didn't say anything..." He looks confused. He looks behind him and then around the room. "Are you okay?"

"Barry!! It's me, Y-N!! We had Professor Derekson together!!" I say reminding him.

"Umm.... Oh, OH!! WOW!! Wow! Um, h-how are you d-doing?" He studders happily and hugs me.

"Pretty good! A-and you?" I studder also. He is really cute though.

"I'm amazing." He says. We stare at each other for a little bit. Iris says Barry's name. "Hey Iris." He gives her a hug when she walks over.

"Iris, this is-"

"I know who she is Barry. We were just talking." She glares at me a little.

"I'm sorry you have to hear this Barry. What is your problem, Iris!? I can talk to whoever I want!! You WERE my friend but then stopped, why?! My mom is in jail for something she never did and you have the nerve to listen to someone with a similar story but who isn't me?! Bad form, Iris West... Bad form. I'm sorry, Barry, I need to go. Tina!! Let's get out of here, please, before I destroy everything..." I walk out and hear Barry.

"Y-N, wait!"

Barry's Pov-

I walk into Jitters and see Iris talking to a girl who isn't to bad to look at. Iris looks upset though, why? I get a Bing on my phone and see it's Joe. I go to open the text and someone pumps me.

"Oh sorry! I wasn't paying attention. Oh God, you okay?" I check the girl who was talking to Iris. She is seems okay and she looks really embarrassed. It is kinda cute though.

"Yeah. Just finished talking with Iris over there, got a little angry and didn't see you. Sorry- Oh My God! Shut up!" She says realizing something.

"Um.. I didn't say anything," I look around t see if she saw something like a celebrity. "Are you okay?" I lift my bag strap more onto my arm, still confused.

"Barry," she knows me? "It's me, Y-N!! We had Professor Derekson together.

I realized I do know her. She has changed so much in 2 years. "Umm... Oh, OH! WOW! Wow! H-how are y-you d-doing?" I had a bad crush on her during college. Feelings are coming back.

"Pretty good and you?" She is also studdering.

"I'm amazing!" I hug her remembering her very well. I wonder if she missed me. We pull away from the hug and stare at each other.

"Barry!" Iris calls my name making me look away. I didn't want to. I could stare at her all day.

"Hey Iris." I smile and give her a hug. Y-N exhales a little like she is annoyed. "Iris, this is-"

"I know her Barry. We talked not to long ago." I see Iris glare at Y-N. What has gotten into Iris? She was never like this before.

Y-N apologizes to me for what she is about to do and talks to Iris asking what her problem was, her mom is in jail for something she didn't do, and I have a similar story but Iris listens to me. They used to be friends and Iris messed up. Y-N calls her friend Tina and they start to leave.

"What was that about, Iris?" I ask firmly.

"Past stuff. Talk about it later."

"She is right though, that is bad form." I turn around and run to Y-N. I don't want to loose her again.

"Y-N wait!!" She turns around. "What-what you doing later?" I ask scaredly but confident... A little.

"Um, well we are going to see the Particale Accelerator thingy." Tina says.

"Excuse you! That is going to change the world, thank you very much!!" Y-N shouts at Tina. Tina rolls her eyes.

"Whatever it is, it's nerdy. But of course you would know ll about it! You love science like stuff." Tina says rubbing Y-N's back. Y-N pushes her hand off her back, laughing.

"You like science?" I ask Y-N.

"Yeah, I do. Especially after my Dad was murdered, my mom was wrongly put in jail. She is still there for something she didn't do. A man was there but gone when police showed up. I have been trying to find him since." Y-N says looking at the ground a little bit here and there.

"My dad is in prison for murdering my mom. He didn't though. I have been trying to get him out too. I think we have a lot in common. I never heard the whole story... You never told all of it. I'm glad we got to see each other again!" I say looking her in the eyes. "I am also gonna see the Particale Accelerator! I am so excited!" I whisper to her, giggling like a little kid when done. We both laugh and high five.

Her smile, man, it feels welcoming. "We have to go Y-N. It was nice to meet you, Barry."

"Yeah.
