"Where were you yesterday?! I called your cell, no answer. Called your house, your mom said you didn't come till the next morning from your date and that you were sleeping! What is going on?!" Gina frantically asked me on Tuesday morning.
I shrugged, "Chill, Gina. I'm not dead or anything, so just be happy to see me."
She sighed, "Fine, whatever. So how'd your date go with Nick?!"
I hesitated. What was I supposed to say? 'Hot, sexy, passionate.'
"Um... just fine. Kind of boring. We went to his house, watched a few movies, and that was really it." What was happening to me?
First, I was giving up my morals and dignity for Nick Jonas, the football god. Second, I was lying to my friends and family to keep our relationship hidden. And third... thankfully, there is no third.
Gina frowned and nodded, "Too bad. I heard the party down the block was on fire. Literally. The whole place would've burned down if some girl and her boyfriend hadn't called."
Just as I was about to break down and tell Gina everything, Nick had to show up. "Morning, Angelina. Morning, Aurora." He said to both of us.
"Morning." I mumbled.
"Sup'?" Gina said, jokingly.
"So, Aurora, you're coming over today, right?" Nick asked. I knew why he wanted me to come over. Let's just say, absolutely no studying was involved.
"And let my number one tutee down? Never." I smiled.
"Sweet. I'll see you later then. Bye, ladies." And with a wink, he was gone.
"Hm, boy thinks he's smooth, huh?" Gina said.
I shrugged, "It's Nick Jonas. What do you expect?"
"Right," Gina nodded, "you can't expect much. It's not like he actually has feelings. I'm surprised that boy can even walk straight with all the things that are probably running through his mind."
That statement hurt. Nick wasn't as bad as I thought he was. Sure, he was still self-centered, arrogant, and a tad annoying; but there was something deeper. Something I wished he let come out more often.
"He's not so bad." I replied.
Gina looked at me, "Oh, c'mon. You practically hated the guy since freshman year and now suddenly you spend a little time after school and he's actually civil to nobodies like us?"
I remained quiet after that. I was so confused. I couldn't stand up for Nick because then Gina would know something was going on; yet, I wished she really knew what happened last night so that way she could give me some tips on what I should do.
"Gina, there's something I have to tell yo ---" "HEY, ADDISON!"
I was interrupted, yet again. I hit the locker in frustration and turned around to see who called my name.
"Well, if it isn't Miss Bitch." I heard Gina mumble from behind me as Riley Shaw and her four H's strutted their way over.
"So, what's this I hear about you trying to steal my Nick?" Riley said, attempting to give me a malicious glare.
"I'm not stealing him and he's not your Nick. I believe he broke up with you a week ago." I replied, grinning.
"Look, let's get one thing straight here, okay? Nick is mine. He'll never be yours. The only chance you'll ever get with him is this stupid tutoring that you have to do with him every day. One day, Nick will realize the horrible mistake he made and beg me to take him back. So, Addison, a word of advice: stop living in this little fantasy you have going on because Nick isn't going to sweep you off your feet and both of you aren't going to ride in a magical sunset. Nothing will ever happen between you two."
She looked at me up and down and smirked. As she was about to walk away, Gina yelled out, "Yeah. That's why Nick and Aurora went on a date and Aurora didn't come home till the next morning, right?!"
I looked at Gina with wide eyes, "What are you doing?!"
"Relax, I'll take care of it." She whispered. Riley quickly spun around, "What did you say, Del Rossi?!"
"What? Did you not hear me or are you just stupid? Aurora and your Nick went on a date two nights ago and I'm sure it was pretty worthwhile because Aurora didn't come home till the morning." Gina smirked at Riley's horrified expression.
"That's not p-possible! I was with Nick last night and it was great!" Riley stuttered.
"God, Riley. Do you always have to make up lies and make fun of another people just so you can feel good about yourself and impress them?" Gina pointed to the 'four H's' who stood quietly behind Riley.
Gina went on, "You're pathetic, Riley. You have a serious problem."
Riley's lower lip quivered and her eyes became glassy from the tears that wanted to fall.
"I don't need this from you. I have better things to do." Riley said slowly.
Gina took a step towards Riley and said, "Then walk away."
Riley blinked back tears and turned on her heels and headed straight for the EXIT with her trail of the 'four H's' right behind her, following like lost puppies.
