The sun's hot rays beam down on me as I dig in the sand by myself, the hole is almost big enough to fit my whole body in.
Since I've been here for a couple of hours and planning on being here for a few more I wear an old All Time Low shirt and blue board shorts.
The whole time I have been here, I haven't gone into the ocean, I've just been focusing on the ditch while I play music from my Bluetooth speaker that sits in my bag next to me, the song is 11:11 by Waterparks, I have dug deep enough into the sand so that the hole is still filled with water, and the sun will be setting soon and I'm determined to finish digging by the time the sky starts to turn multi-coloured.
"Wow, this is something you usually see kids doing," I hear a voice say, his shadow blocking the sun, I look up at him adjusting my sunglasses, standing over me is a rather tall man who is just over six foot that has familiar looking skunk hair. He's wearing a white shirt and grey shorts with black thongs (flip-flops). My eyes widen behind my sunglasses as I realize who he is.
"Yeah, but I have the mind of a seven-year-old," I reply cheekily managing to keep my cool, I keep my front facing down so he doesn't see my shirt.
"Well I've been told that I have the mind of a three-year-old so I win, can I help?" He asks, I nod and go back to digging humming along to All The Small Things by Blink-182, Jack kneels down on the opposite side of the hole and starts scooping up sand and throwing it behind himself.
"My name's Jack by the way," he says.
"My name is Mally, nice to meet you," I reply, Jack smiles a toothy smile which I return, after a while I start to feel the waves touch my toes, I look up at the sky towards the ocean brushing my hair out of my face with the back of my hand, careful not to get sand in it.
"How deep do you want this thing?" Jack asks suddenly, I look down at the hole filled with water.
"That should be enough, perfect timing too," I reply.
"Perfect timing for what?" Jack asks confused.
"This," is all I say before taking off my shirt, throwing it to my bag that has my phone, towel and speaker in it, the song playing now is All My Heart by Sleeping with Sirens, I have a proper bather shirt under the ATL one. I jump into the hole with a splash and lie back facing the ocean, my back leans against the sandy wall while my legs hang over the edge. Jack laughs.
"Aww, you got me wet," he says in a whiny voice, I tilt my head back to look at him upside-down.
"How'd you know that wasn't my intention?" I say smirking, Jack laughs and winks before taking off his shirt and thongs and placing them next to my bag too, he spots my shirt.
"Oh, you're a fan?" He asks.
"Yeah I am, a pleasure to meet you, Jack Barakat," I say blushing while holding my hand up to him to shake his hand, Jack sits the same way as me in the hole.
"Why didn't you say?" He says, his legs are longer than mine so his feet reach the waves better than mine.
"I don't know, guess because I didn't want to scare you off in case you think I have a deadly case of fangirl-itis," I reply shrugging, Jack laughs again. Oh, that laugh.
Jack and I spend the next hour and a half talking while watching the sunset in our hole. Soon enough I start to shiver as the stars start to shine brightly and have to get out of the water, Jack follows close behind.
"Hey Mally, a-are you single?" Jack asks, I stop drying myself off and blush.
"Y-yeah... I am... why?" I ask.
