"Holding her hand was like holding a butterfly. Or a heartbeat. Like holding something complete, and completely alive." ~ Rainbow Rowell
"That's not a superpower." Grace stated, annoyed.
"Yes it is!" Seth argued, watching her sift through her closet.
"No it's not!" She stated. "I could get people to do whatever I wanted, that's not a super power, it's a skill."
"No, that's coercion." He pointed. "And it might not work on everyone, what I'm talking about is compelling people to do whatever I wanted. Then I could get Leah to do my chores." He smirked evilly, thinking about how nice it would be to not have to do his chores.
Grace rolled her eyes, even though he couldn't see it. She took out a few hangers with clothes on them and held the out in front of her, making a humming noise. "What do you think?" She asked, turning to Seth.
"I think the movie started five minutes ago." He teased. She rolled her eyes again.
"You're such a boy." She scoffed. Seth sat on her bed, watching as she shrugged and took her clothes to the washroom. She was still in her pajamas's which was unsurprising and kind of refreshing. She always looked nice in public but Seth loved seeing the real her, dressed down with her hair up. She was even more gorgeous because she was the most like herself. He scrolled through his phone as the song on Grace's speakers changed. It was something by Ed Sheeran, a few months ago he didn't even know who Ed Sheeran was, but now he recognized the melody and even knew a few lyrics because of how much Grace played it in the car on their way to school. She walked back in, properly dressed and smiled when she heard the calm voice flow through the speakers.
"I love this song." She sighed, blissfully.
"I know." Seth snickered, he lost count of the times Grace used this song to ridiculously serenade him. She walked over to her bed, putting her hands on his and pulling him up. Seth's heart soared at the contact, not expecting what would come next.
"Dance with me." She said, putting his hands on her hips and her own around his neck. Seth instantly turned red, unsure of how to react and partially still frozen in shock.
"I- uh" He stuttered, standing stiffly.
"It's easy." She smiled, her eyes twinkling with joy as she started to sway her body to the beat. "One song? Please. And then we can go right to the movies, I promise!" She begged, adding her best try at puppy dog eyes, although she didn't have to, Seth was just caught off guard. Had been given a second to react, he would have don't anything she asked for, regardless of how ridiculous he looked.
He nodded as his response, unsure if he could trust his voice. She grinned, pulling them closer together. Grace moved to the beat of the song while Seth moved to the beat of Grace's heart, for that was his favorite sound better than any song could ever compare.
At some point the song ended and they were just left standing there, staring into each others eyes. Their faces were so close, all Seth had to do was move his line of sight ever so slightly and he was looking at her lips. She took great care of her lips, always applying chapstick, it was no wonder they looked so soft. Which just made Seth think about his own lips. He bit his bottom lip self consciously, thinking they were probably too chapped and dry which only brought Grace's attention to his lips. She wasn't sure why she was so drawn to them, Seth was amazing and there was no doubt she had a crush on him, but what they had going on was so good, she kept telling herself there was no way in hell she would be willing to loose him over some stupid crush. But here they were, in her room, wrapped around each other, leaning closer together until there was no room left.
For a second there, Grace was sure she was floating, and for once her thoughts halted. Seth smiled into the kiss when he heard her heartbeat speed up, what he didn't expect was for his to speed up as well.
They moved in sync, their lips, their hearts, their love, and their jump apart when there was a knock at the door.
"Uh- yeah?" Grace answered, kind of breathless. Seth smiled triumphantly, proud he could make her as flustered as she made him.
"Are you guys still going to the movies?" The person on the other side of the door asked, it was Nina.
"Shit." Grace cursed, scrambling for her phone to check the time. Seth's smiled faded when he realized that not only had she still not looked at him, but in fact went out of her way to avoid eye contact.
"Can Leo, Laura and I come with you guys?" She asked, through the door.
Grace finally looked at Seth. Her expression was difficult for him to decipher but that's only because she was also trying to understand the meaning in his eyes as well.
"Yeah, but we have to leave right now if we want to make it." Grace said, grabbing her coat and practically sprinting out the door. When Grace was downstairs and could no longer feel the weight of Seth's intense gaze, she pressed a finger to her still tingling lips. Seth was right, his lips were very chapped, but that didn't stop her from getting addicted to the idea of Seth being hers.
