Over the course of the next couple of days, I caught myself thinking about apologizing to Blake. Luckily, I had Lucy to snap me out of that one. "You have nothing to apologize for. He's the one that should be falling down at your feet," she said.
I knew she was right, so I kept stepping back from the phone, every time I considered reaching out and calling him or sending him a text message. This had happened before. We would have a little tiff and then something would happen to bring us back together.
Lucy and Eli continued to wow me with their relationship. Eli was the romantic type and Lucy was the lucky woman that was getting all his advances. As each day went on, I could tell that she was falling more and more for him. It made me realize how much I wanted a relationship like she had.
When I got the call to go for another audition, I was a little apprehensive this time. I definitely still wanted to see that dream of mine play out, but it was like I was leery of getting burned once more. Plus, it was going to be a job that would span over maybe years, because it was for a television show, but that's all the information they knew. I graciously accepted and decided that I needed to give it my all. I got ready for the audition with a new hope that this was going to be the job I was looking for.
Lucy was there to pump me up too with her motivational talk and I felt like I had this as I made my way out the door and to the audition. I got to a building, where the parking lot was crowded as it usually was during these auditions. I got out of my car, trying not to let the nerves get to me and headed to the front door of the building.
Once inside, I saw a bunch of people that looked familiar and I took a seat after signing in. I grabbed a magazine to busy myself and leafed through it, but after a moment I didn't even realize what I was reading. I closed it up and tossed it to the side. It seemed like I was never going to be called back as people continued to get called back and then excused. After a couple hours of being there, I finally heard my name.
"Elisha Lornal?"
I jumped up, nearly knocking the table of magazines over in the process. I took a deep breath and put a smile on my face as I hurried towards the door where a woman stood. She peered over the top of her glasses at me, looking like she was saying, we only take serious actors here. I was counting myself out, even before I got back there.
I stepped onto this stage and the lights hit me, I had to shield my face and as I did, my eyes went straight to the man that I was going to be reading parts with. I wanted to be wrong, but sure enough it was Blake. I felt a sick feeling cross me as he held a smug grin as I moved closer. For two seconds though, I considered bolting and not sticking around for the humiliation that was about to come over me. We hadn't even spoken since he left angry and I couldn't imagine this going any other way than bad. Or completely drastic.
"Hey baby," he said as winked at me. His tone was hushed, but I could hear him clearly.
"Hey," I replied, "uh, what's going on? I thought you already had a big part, so why are you here?" I asked.
He smirked. "This is casting for the lead woman that will play opposite me." He reached out and took my hand, like he was just shaking it to wish me good luck. "I hope you get it." Again, he winked and I felt a little at ease over it. This wasn't going to be so bad, I mentally told myself. I turned to the people in the audience and put a smile on my face.
"Hello, my name is Elisha Lornal. I am excited for this opportunity and I appreciate you giving me the chance." I rattled on with a few more ways of kissing butt and then was told that I could start reading on page three and they would stop me when they had enough.
