A feeling of freedom was what I felt after saying goodbye to Blake. A weight had literally been lifted off of me and I vowed that I wasn't going to let him or anyone else dictate my happiness.
Over the next few weeks, I found myself putting my name out there some more, just searching for more acting opportunities. I got a few chances to work as a model, but in the end, they all just fizzled out, so it left me feeling empty once more.
Lucy and Eli couldn't be any happier as most nights they went out and then during the morning Lucy would saunter back into the apartment. It became a ritual that Lucy seemed to acclimate herself too and I couldn't deny her happiness with that.
Blake didn't call me, just as I had told him not to, but I had a feeling he wouldn't call me even if he had wanted to. While I was confident that I made the right decision, I did periodically find myself cyber stalking him, just to check up on him and see what he was up to.
When his TV drama premiered, I made sure to watch it. But the thing that I made note of, was the female that they hired to play Nora was a lousy actress. Yet, all the critics said the series was bound to be a big hit. I was a little jealous over that, but I couldn't dwell on it or it would have driven me nuts.
Shortly after the series premiered, I caught a glance at Blake's social media page to find that he was making out with the actress that played the part that was rightfully mine. He looked happy, but then he was always on the arm of a different woman every day of the week it seemed. I was going crazy with my addiction to checking up on him and I finally had to force myself to stay away from all things Blake.
One day, when all hope seemed lost, I got a phone call from my agent. "Hey... check out Class Enterprises."
Oh, God! I immediately thought. More googling!
"Class Enterprises?" I asked, anyway. "What's that?"
"What?" Lilian replied. "You haven't heard of Class?"
"Uh, no, I haven't." I felt silly for a moment. "Should I have heard of it?"
"Yeah. Everyone has." I could practically hear her rolling her eyes through the phone. "Anyway, it's a company that is doing a nationwide search for talent. Look it up on the internet and see if you think it will fit well with you. There's an application right there and you can apply for an audition."
I didn't know what it would entail, but I was open for just about anything, so I agreed and hung up with her. I went straight to the computer and searched in the engine for Class Enterprises. It brought up a main page that talked about accepting open auditions. The date for deadline on the application was just a week away. I looked over the rules and then my jaw dropped.
"Las Vegas?"
I didn't see that coming. Lilian hadn't said anything about Las Vegas holding the auditions. I read through the rules again, and the thought of leaving LA seemed a bit overwhelming and frightening. As I sat there and stared at the website for a minute, I thought of all the reasons why I shouldn't apply. I had friends and a job cleaning the motel, and now a job bussing tables at a local diner, that would hold me back.
You can find friends and a job anywhere. Plus, you're working on grabbing the best job of your life. Take a chance! Still, it was too much of a decision to make on a whim. I got out of the website, with the mindset that I would think on it, even though I knew that I didn't have a lot of time to think on it.
When I saw Lucy that night, I didn't even bother telling her that I had this idea in my mind. The next two days, I worked at the motel and diner. There wasn't a lot of other activity going on that would require my time, so I at least had work to take my mind off of things.
