276 what’s that number mean to you,
In what approach do you rush or run or greet its boundaries:
1 laugh to its own beat
2 feet walking down the street
3 words that will be spoken to a special friend
4 thoughts spinning around in a head that will never end
5 flying out of a mouth
6 smiles with teeth a routh
7 words linked together to form a coherent thought
8 little glances you hope they bought
9 sets of friends destined for forever
10 fingers intertwined together
All of this is a bit
A small little fit
The infinite possibilities of a single mask
276 masks lined up against a fence
How many laughs and smiles they produce
How many of their ideas will die bound by a noose
Or beaten form them in violent abuse.
An unbreakable bond unites so many
But tonight is not a night for every mother and woman to worry.
Why does what we hide under our clothes
Seem to limit the solicitude everyone shows
Children should not become another’s form of stress relief
Women should not be bought or sold without the slightest hint of grief
Men should not be pushed away like they’re animals to release.
We all break
And now underneath this woeful loss
I collapse onto me knees and bow my head.
For just one night
Can we all take arms together and fight
Man, woman, child,
Race, religion, sex.
Young things, immature, those still seem to vex
The most complex
But things said to compile the like-minded souls
Break existence into fracturing factions
Children put puzzles back together
Lets link these girls’ arms
And pull them back home.
