A/N: Hellooo, since there were no suggestions for a Christmas special there will not be a winter holiday themed chapter for a while. Also, I think it has become obvious that I know nothing about Canada so if there are any Canadians that read this flop of a book, please give tips about how to write the location and stuff! Anyway, enjoy the chapter.

When Karkat woke up, (y/n) was nowhere to be seen. He groggily sat up, the covers sliding down his pyjama covered torso. Laughing came from downstairs along with the sounds of people talking and cutlery clinking against porcelain.

The mutant-blooded troll dragged himself up and changed into his clothes with about as much enthusiasm as a high school student waking up for school on the first day back and made his way downstairs to be met with a heavenly smell. He wandered to the dining room, tiredness soon disappearing as his grey eyes met the array of breakfast foods presented on the dining table between a smiling (y/n) and (f/n) who were happily eating there own plates of food.

"Good morning, sleeping beauty" (y/n) chuckled at the mop of messy hair on his head

"more like sleeping grumpy" (f/n) whispered to themselves

"Shut up!" Karkat grumbled defensively, "How did you shits make all this food?"

"Oh, we didn't," (y/n) said, "Skylar did"

"oh"

"Yeah, he's in the kitchen" (f/n) semi-gushed (Do you know what I mean? idk how else to describe it)

Karkat peeked to the kitchen to see Skylar pouring pancake batter into the pan he held, the batter making a satisfying sizzle. His head turned to Karkat, his orange eyes widening surprise

"oh, good morning, Karkat" He smiled "I didn't think you were up yet"

"Well you were wrong"

"Heh, I guess so" He motioned towards the dining table "Please, take a seat. Help yourself to anything there." After Skylar clearly ended the conversation, Karkat returned to the table and was met with (y/n) laying across both her own chair and the one next to her.

He just shrugged and sat next to (f/n), grabbing a plate and placing a slice of toast on it.

"So why is Mr blueberry hair here so early in the day?" He asked, spreading butter onto the perfectly toasted bread.

"well apparently he wanted to welcome you and (y/n) to the place." (f/n) said

"I've been here before, obviously, but still" (y/n) added, a smile prominent on her face.

"Isn't he kind" (f/n) sighed,  looking at Skylar through the door. They watched him flip the pancake and whisper a small "yes" when it landed back in the pan perfectly. "and so cute"

"Isn't he though" (y/n) grinned

Karkat made some sort of disapproving grunt "sure he is." (y/n) faked being offended

"He is my son!" (y/n) laughed "He is too pure for this world"

"I am not your son" Skylar smiled as he shimmied through the door with two plates on each arm.

"but you're so smol" (y/n) grinned, standing up and ruffling his blue hair.

"Have your pancake." He sighed and placed a plate in front of her. Each pancake had a different pattern on. (y/n)'s Pancake a had a heart, (f/n)'s had a star, his had a pear shape and Karkat's had a swirl."Each one has a different flavour, I just wanted to try some stuff out."

"It looks delicious, as always" (f/n) smiled at him before tucking into the pancake.

Breakfast passed with the occasional small talk and a lot of food. (f/n) and Skylar soon left to go and watch some anime or something in the living room, leaving Karkat and (y/n) alone.

(Your P.O.V)

Karkat and I chatted across our empty plates

"Thank you so much for coming with me" I looked at my plate "I feel so much safer with you here for some reason"

"It's fine," Karkat's expression softened, a hint of a smile gracing his lips "Besides, what else was I meant to do? just send an emotionally unstable human to the bacterial breeding grounds known as an airport by herself?"

"good point" I said "I'm glad we've become clo-" I was cut off by Karkat suddenly curling over. "Karkat? are you okay"

"I'd hardly describe feeling like you're being stabbed in the stomach an 'okay' feeling" He grunted.

"Let me get you some painkillers" I stood up "You should probably get back into bed"

Karkat wordlessly got up and hobbled into the living room towards the stairs. My heart seemed to hurt watching him in pain, seeing him wince made me want to hug him and sooth him, to run my hands through his raven hair as he laid his head in my lap. I shook my head and went to grab the painkillers from the bathroom cupboard.

(2nd person)

You soon followed through the living room with a glass of water and the pain killers only to be stopped by your two friends

"Is Karkat alright?" (f/n) worried

"he's just got a stomach ache, I've got it." you smiled and made your way up the stairs. Not catching the small smirk that fell on Skylar's lips.
