Avery Rae was never normal. Her dyed white hair, pierced nose, and clothes of black and blue made her a misfit among average teenage girls. But when the epidemic hit Chocago, all those average teenage girls disappeared...along with all the average teenage boys, average children, and the average men and women. Doctors and teachers, neighbors and school mates were gone with the wind. Millions dead in a matter of weeks as the big cities were overrun with the undead. Everyone slow enough was bitten. Everyone stupid enough to think they were beyond disease made the change. Worldwide silence became the only thing you would hear, besides howling wind, rustling garbage, the occasional gun shot, and the rough shuffling of thousands of zombies. They were not the slow things of television. They could walk, run, and climb as well as any human being. Their delayed reactions and lack of intelligence kept you alive.
When Avery Rae gets trapped in a building full of the undead, she thinks her life is over. She has nowhere to run and no chance at shooting her way out. That is, until a black haired boy with eyes greener than sea foam saves her life from infected bodies of flesh. Her only chance at survival came to her in the warehouse.
