The school day went by in a blur. It didn't go by fast, but Braelynn just didn't remember a single thing she did in school that day, except watch her clock. She snuck a peek at it again. 0 days, 3 hours, 15 minutes, 3 seconds. This was the day. Braelynn was practically shaking. Was her soulmate nervous too? She had no idea.
Braelynn knew she had to look better than usual, so she picked out her black sundress. Then something hit her. A ball. Just kidding, an idea hit her.
Wouldn't her soulmate want to see the real Braelynn, not some dressed up girl? Braelynn was relieved she wouldn't have to put on the dress. Instead, she put on a pair of her dark blue skinny jeans, her shirt from her dance studio, then a maroon sweatshirt over that. She also put on her maroon converse, so she'd look a little coordinated. She went to the bathroom to put on a little makeup. She put on the usual- eyeliner, eyeshadow, and lip gloss. After brushing her long, dark blonde hair and putting it into a left part, she checked her clock again.
0 days, 2 hours, 47 minutes, 40 seconds. Why was she so nervous? She's usually full of confidence. She's an Aries, after all. Braelynn decided there wasn't much to do until she had to leave the house to find him. So Braelynn put in her earbuds, found Twenty One Pilot's album "Blurryface" and hit shuffle play. She was jamming out to "heavydirtysoul" as she checked her social media- Recolor, Snapchat, and Instagram. Even though there wasn't much going on in anyone's lives right now, Braelynn still managed to lose track of time. Once the last song in the album ended, Braelynn picked up her phone to start AJR's album "The Click". Then she remembered what today was. She reluctantly looked at her clock.
0 days, 0 hours, 33 minutes, 55 seconds. Braelynn said some bad words in her head as she paused the music, tore out her earbuds, and left her room. "Bye, mom! I'm going to Riley's house for a project, I'll be back in an hour." "Ok sweetie." Her mom said absentmindedly, as she was cooking dinner in the crockpot. Did she even remember that Riley lived 20 miles away?
Anyway, it didn't matter. Braelynn walked out the door and her face met a gush of cool, crisp air. Spring was definitely her favorite season. As she was walking down the sidewalk, not knowing where she was going, she checked her clock. 0 days, 0 hours, 24 minutes, 2 seconds. She still had some time. Braelynn didn't know where she was going, but she was going wherever she felt like she needed to go.
She found herself at the nearby park. The trees casted shadows across the grass and sidewalk. It's been a good 3 years since she'd been here last. Nothing changed though. She went and sat on the swings. She checked her clock. 10 minutes. She knew there was nothing to be worried about, so she sat there on the swings, calmly. She took in her surroundings as she sat there. The sky was bright blue, with little to no clouds in it. The trees were beginning to grow green leaves, but some trees had small pink flowers all over them.
Then, Braelynn remembered something. She remembered the thrill of swinging on the swings as fast and high as she could. She remembered the air rushing into her face, blowing back her hair. She felt like she was literally on top of the world. Remembering all this, she relived the memory. It was fun. As fun as it was, she was forced to check her clock again. "Craaaap!" She said out loud. The clock read 0 days, 0 hours, 0 minutes, 50 seconds. Her eyes were glued to those last numbers. 49. 48. 47. All of a sudden, she felt like she was in a horror movie. Like there would be some jumpscare once the clock hit 0 seconds. There was no time to waste. Her soulmate was right here in the park with her, she just needed to find him. So her search began.
