Chapter 1 – Beyond the North
The weather was perfect, cold comforting breeze coming from the other side of the mountain.
Renoa sat at the bed of fallen brown-yellowish leaves, facing southwards, the north face of high Urut’hal Mountains. Her eyes fixed themselves on the mountain for the past few minutes, had not moved ever since she had stayed at the position.
Her straight long auburn hair rested from her head falling down to her back. It glinted when sunlight hit it, deflecting light off itself. She kept on moving to find a cozy position, her butt was tired and feeling numb and deadened.
Renoa looked at her side, seeing her two Reacher Companions, Jarek and Tarsanol. They were sleeping, snoring hysterically. Renoa heard it; it was loud and piercing, having a thin straight stroke to her ears.
Beside her, her male horse Topaz, stood covered by dark black skin, as dark as a raven’s tail. They were bored, waiting for the sun to set for half an hour. Topaz snorted out of tiresome, making Renoa shocked. Beside Topaz were horses of Jarek and Tarsanol, Equola and Pecustos.
Down, at the foot of the mountain, flowed the Angar River perpendicular to her eyesight. Since it was near winter, some portion of it freezes and remains solid. It sustained the nearby field of golden reeds, along with the Starden Trees that grows defiantly and insolently.
Urut’hal Mountains was considered sacred by Sisterhood of the Night or the Sophigists, as many referred to them. One was prohibited from climbing it or just stepping into its foot. While, the Angar River was also considered sacred and holy for its water comes from the summits of the Urut’hal Mountains. Since Renoa was not a sophigist, she does not believe in such customs and beliefs.
Almost an hour and a half later, the moon rose on the left side of the mountain, starting to drop some luminous brilliant silvery rays of moonlight breaking into the pits of the cold frosty dusk. The surrounding also started to deflect moonlight showing dull combinations of various dark colors ranging from gray to fatigue. The night was approaching fast, so did Aidengal She thought.
Cold dew lingered around Renoa’s face that made her shiver frantically. A nice sheet of thick blanket surrounded her, which kept her warm, caging the heat on the deep layer of her skin. She glared through the mountains wanting it to melt into an ocean of much liquefied mud.
Renoa smiled sniffing the essence of life as she looks at the positive side of it, being optimistic. She believed that every action causes one’s fortune and no regret shall be welcomed in the end.
Renoa roused Jarek and Tarsanol, preventing them to continue to sleep deeply. They were surprised to be awakened, still wanting to have a comforting sleep. “Wake up, Assholes!” Renoa blurted, her lips were hard and tough. She stretched her stiff and rigid back and rotated her head, relaxing her nape.
“What’s the big idea,” Jarek said, scrubbing his tired half-opened eyes.
“Yea, what’s with the sudden awakening?” Tarsanol seemed pissed off; his eyes were also half-opened. Jarek went back lying, his head rested on the ground.
Renoa kicked him on the butt, angered by their stubbornness. Jarek did not stand up so she kicked him again on the butt. “Stand up, you Jerk!” she shouted. “We must move quickly!”
“Alright, Alright!” Jarek stood up and faced Renoa. “Are we leaving immediately?”
“Aidengal’s men may be approaching too fast. We need to keep up,”she thought. “If we do not move quickly, they may keep up with us!” Aidengal was the leader of a Gladow tribe in Fa’ardin Woods, a forest in the northeastern of Amorada, beyond the North. This place was inhabited by gladows.
